  2. My favorite: "When I was at Valencia my wife said that we would win the league. She was right and to mark the occasion she asked me for a new watch. I bought her the watch, but then she said that we would win the UEFA Cup and that when we did she wanted another watch. Now she says that we will win the Champions League and that she will want an even more expensive watch. My wife has a lot of confidence and a lot of watches." Let's hope she gets another one or two in May 2010...
  3. I'll second that.
  4. Disagree - I much prefer just the one thread.
  5. My second favorite btw is the preview he did for the 06/07 season (see here, journos must really hate the way everything they ever wrote is archived on t'internet) in which he basically wrote an obituary on the Ferguson era at United. If he was a footballer, that article would be the equivalent of the worst miss in front of an open goal you've ever seen in your life - think Babel away to Pompey and multiply by at least 10... Having said that, I quite like him as a journo - if nothing else, his stuff is usually well written and entertaining.
  6. The snippet is part of the Guardian's "Joy of Six" series, written by Rob Smyth, who's a ManU supporter and in my experience rarely misses an opportunity to stick it to Liverpool. He included O'Shea's late winner against us in his "Joy of Six late goals" a couple of weeks ago, I suppose the reason being that he meant "the six late goals that gave me the most joy". My favorite Smyth moment is still his minute-by-minute commentary of the 06 cup final: now there's a great late goal for you Robbie...
  7. not quite: Dutchman seals Reds move OK, so hes only the reserve team goalkeeping coach but you gotta start somewhere
  8. I thought at the time that it was quite a compliment to Rafa, although I'm sure it wasn't intended: if Rafa can get a team with only 2 good players in it to within 6 points of United he must be an absolutely fantastic manager.
  9. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but maybe you can picture him using a Spanish or even (gasp!) a Greek expression that translates to "umpteenth"?
  10. and doesn't celebrate
  11. Dirk, 2-0. Will probably go down as a Hutton OG though...
  12. Anyone else have the feeling that Torres' batteries are empty? He just doesn't seem as sharp and quick as earlier in the season, let alone the last one...
  13. Thanks a bunch - works for me.
  14. you're clearly not in the same country as me :-)
  15. That works for about 1 minute and then you get a message about how they've reached the max number of channels for your country and please would you purchase a premium account.
  16. Saw Benayoun miss a great chance from a header down by Skrtel early on before my stream died, not heard much on the offish since then
  17. So it's not just me then. Thank god for that.
  18. <nonsense, please ignore>
  19. Thinking we should improve on our CBs if we can is fair enough. Not even coming up with one realistic name but still calling for Skrtel to be sold is getting tedious TBH because you can do that for any position. For instance, we haven't had a 40+ goals/season striker since 1984 and being the best we desperately need one. Who that could be I've no idea but I'm willing to see Torres sold to get him in.
  20. Not me - he's doing a nice job of making up for not being able to listen to Andy Gray. Following the match without some irritiating b*****d is just not the same...
  21. FFS what? FFS there's always something to moan about or FFS he's right, when can we?
  22. Nope, not me, especially not Henry, who'd be ideal for the position we most need to fill (left side attacker). Ronaldinho may have more quality than Henry or Forlan but the question with him is whether he can be arsed to use it or not, and that's one thing I can't stand in a player.
  23. For them, yes - can't get much worse than it is. For us, not on your life. If we're going to pay someone's pension it should at least be someone who actually played for us.
  24. I like the "you should've stayed on the telly" one for 1.
  25. Why would it make a difference to Xabi what the transfer fee is? Makes me think that the whole piece is rubbish.
