Who knows, perhaps they thought Torres might do anything to force a move regardless of the fee being offered. I just find it very difficult to believe that a respected firm like FSG would seemingly let their best asset go three days before the end of the window with no feasible replacement in sight without so much as a whimper. It either speaks volumes about their ambition and credibility or that there was something there beyond their control.

I can't get away from the feeling that Torres knew this bid was in the offing. Why make a bid coming up to the 11th hour unless you've a good idea your target may be happy to push things along at his end?
