  2. sissoko in a longish line of talented French players who when/if they turn it on can look like top class, but haven't often enough. punt, but not impossible he can perform more consistently in right environment. more ability maybe, but ben arfa been in that boat application wise. payet probably too.
  3. it's a danger, but different temperament to the obvious, recent examples, and already delegating plenty to two coaches who've been with him since mainz. brought in people on fitness side.
  4. ings has a good touch.
  5. we won't be buying full backs in the hope that's all it takes to improve our midfield though obviously. because that would be mad. we'll be (and are) looking for midfielders. especially if we want to send our full backs forwards as germany obviously do. i'm not criticising hector. he looked alright. but it's hard to judge really he was playing for probably the best team, certainly in terms of ability to control game. and two very good centre halves also by the way.

  7. most of those scouts were doing presumably decent jobs at other clubs previously. part of the reason they reportedly left city was that they were being sidelined. michael calvin speaks positively about most of them in his book. although I think he is close to Rodgers and his view may have changed. and also mel johnson who is the old school scout who we let go.
  8. funny how all these full backs playing in front of utterly dominant midfields look steady, constantly in the opposition half.

  10. we can argue about the value of such a policy or how well we've done it previously. but that they have a top manager on the same page, as well as experience and success working that way, must be a positive.
  11. surely that's a good thing.
  12. echo now saying we're unlikely to field team.

  14. i've no idea. but it's hard to argue he was totally unaware what he was getting into when we're also confidently describing how bayern munich, juventus, sevilla or whoever else work in the market.
  15. it's not on the money. klopp not simply a slave to club's policies. he chose to join. and he chose to join at a moment when jobs at any number of other, richer clubs were about to become available.
  16. it's not really though is it? he chose to join liverpool at a time when every one of those other clubs Flanders has mentioned was likely to lose it's manager, whether in a matter of weeks or months. and any of which he'd have been a strong candidate for. find it hard to believe he didn't consider this or how each one fairly obviously works in the market.
  17. i don't think he'd be at liverpool if he saw spending power or big names as the decisive factor. which isn't to say he won't pay relatively big fees. he already has.
  18. he accused wenger of being a voyeur, ten years later he's still going on about him.
  19. we'll be good next season. we might not be great. but confident klopp will build a proper team - understanding, high standards, fitness, spirit etc. -which is the first and crucial requirement for the next steps.
