Doesn't look like the LFC tv channel is even showing the re-run of the 90 mins like they usually do.

He has been brilliant this season with Agger alongside him. Having the same back four week in week out has helped and i definately agree that him having the right-centre defender position has been crucial.

It's quite funny how adversity has united everyone again. The best thing to come out of the Hicks and Gillette saga was the unification of the fans against a common enemy. It made a lot of people realise just how great a club we are and how much stronger we are when we're all on the same side. When I see the way the whole club is pulling together now over the Suarez witch-hunt I can't help but feel proud. I don't think there are many teams and managers and fans that would be so brought together by adversity, and while i don't agree with the 'Napoleon is always right' attitude to the King i would follow him to the end of the earth for how he's made us Liverpool again. We play like Liverpool, we act like Liverpool, we talk like Liverpool, and before long we'll be winning like Liverpool too.

Anyone else think our statement reads like a Kenny press interview? Makes me smile. LFC is back where it belongs, and won't take anymore sh** from anyone.
-
Our statement gives me nothing but pride for our club. No club has the guts to stand up to the FA, and our statement is a massive 'f*** you' to the whole corrupt organisation. We truly believe in, and are standing behind, our player and there is no way this is over. Can see LFC back in the courtroom before long.

My apologies, I read it and jumped to conclusions. I should've known people on this forum wouldnt 'give up' in the sense i meant. I took the post the way i hear some people treating Carroll in the pub and just vented, my bad
-
Ok, just to clarify i wasnt having a go at anyone particularly on this forum, more a group in the pub where i wached the last game who pissed me off. Even before kickoff were saying how they hope Carroll doesn't get any minutes, how he's 'sh*te' and barely looks like a professional football, and even jeered and laughed when he came on. The one thing a 22-year old striker needs is confidence and the constant moaning and grief isn't helping anyone (apart from the people who are looking forward to saying 'i told you so'). I've heard people saying he's had his chance too but i don't see how 13 starts is a fair go, and but for some great goalkeeping he would have bagged a few important goals for us this season. As another poster said it feels a bit like the Keane situation in the lack of consistent playing time and rumours in the background of whatever reasons can be thought of. It's down to Kenny anyway. If he's not playing then there is a reason for it, and if he doesn't see a long-term future for the lad then i don't see us wasting any time. I'd like to see him given a run of a few games, and with Downing on the left to see if he can do what he's supposedly best, but unless Suarez gets banned i can't see it happening.
-
How about people just support the lad as long as he's still at the club? Does there really need to be a point when fans give up on a Liverpool player? If the manager doesn't rate him and gets rid then fine, but as long as he's a red he deserves a bit of support from the so called supporters.

You think? I'm not sure. I still hear people, when they talk about transfers, say how we need 'better than Lucas'. Or when we give a freekick away people muttering how he's crap at tackling and gives away 'stupid' freekicks. Most Liverpool fans, at least those who watch us regularly, appreciate how important a player he is for us but i still think there are sections who go to him as a way to moan. I don't remember the Bayern e15m story, but if that is the kind of price other teams value him at then great because that means there's no way we'll sell him. Personally Lucas is one of my fav players, probably developed in part because of the stick he got in the past and my tendency to get strongly behind a player when it seems they are being treated unfairly.

When does a DM cease to be a DM? It certainly seems that when a player hits the very top of the position of defensive mid they almost inevitably become attacking players. Essien for instance, while never a purely defensive player, developed into one of the best all-round mid's in the league dominating vast areas of the pitch and greatly influencing the attacking side of games. The same can obviously be said for players like Gerrard and Vieira and now Toure, in that they are too good to be limited to the defensive aspects of the game. If Lucas can develop a killer instinct in the final third then that will take him too over that edge into great all-round midfielder. He's already the best of the 'defensive' midfielders in the league, if he starts adding goals (as imo he already adds a fair few killer passes) then he will be classed as one of the best in the league fullstop. I wonder if he would then get universal recognition? Indeed, i wonder what reputation he has abroad as it still seems the automatic scapegoat in England is often Lucas. I have intentionally left out the likes of Mascherano and Makelele btw as, despite some recognising their brilliance, they were still up for criticism due to to their limiting of the number of players when the team is attacking. Indeed, they were always players who took up the blame when the team looked weak in attack, something the 'all-rounder' DM's are obviusly not criticised for. Lucas IMO is neither the pure holding-mid nor the incredible all-rounder, but with a little push he could become the latter.

I actually thought we were quite lucky not to concede more on a few occasions in the second half (well a combo of luck and Reina brilliance). Maybe I'm expecting too much, as we were away to Chelsea afterall, but it felt to me for long spells of the second 45 we were really under pressure, struggling to contain the wide-players, and Suarez looked totally alone in attack. The subs definitely made a positive change, but i felt we were a bit lucky to come away with all 3 points as Chelsea looked much better organised after half time. Excellent individual performances throughout the side, so I'm probably being overly critical, but something didn't feel right to me. I thought the defence, especially Skrtel, was outstanding today. No way the defence can be dropped while they're doing such a fine job. Infact, I can't fault any individual player's performance, which makes my feelings about the balance of the game all the more perplexing... 3 points back in the right direction anyway.

Didn't notice Belhanda, and i'd never heard of any of the Montpellier players to be honest. No players stood out in the game really. I was expecting Loic Remy and Andre Ayew to really stand out, but Remy did nothing and was subbed and Ayew had no impact either. Just an extended holiday. I was meant to be doing some backpacking around Europe working but have ended up just scraping together some savings and hosteling Barcelona, Marseille, and next to Florence. Fiorentina are a decent side too so ill definitely have a look at getting a ticket while I'm there. I wish I was a football scout. What a dream job that would be going around the world watching football and having expenses paid!

Last night I watched the Montpellier v Marseille game, as i am in Marseille and wanted to see what the fans were like (it was an away game so i just went a bar). Based on that game the standard of French football is absolutely appalling. Seriously, I understand now why Cisse did so well there. The fans too had no passion. Yes i know i was only in a bar but you still expect the fans to show a bit of interest. I struggled even to find anywhere showing the match, and when i did it was packed but with silent fans. I'd always heard Marseille fans were good too, so maybe it's just because they're not doing well at the moment? One player i did notice who i think would do ok in the Premiership though is Valbuena. He's got some good technique and direct dribbling which always causes English defences trouble.

Get well soon Clem. Only had the chance to see him in videos myself (James and Friedel were about when i first started watching us if i remember correctly) but my Dad raves about how great a player he was every time i mention goalkeepers. That's what makes a true legend I suppose, when a player is so good people tell their children about them. YNWA.

I would like a CB who also plays DM myself. Just keeps options open for some of the younger players and would offer cover for the squad. If Lucas picked up an injury our CM would look very light, and CB could do with another ball-player. An attacking right-mid/forward would really improve our options too, especially one that knows how to find the back of the net.

I don´t see Suarez as a lone striker at all. I think it would waste what he is so good at, with his use of the channels and his creativity and his running at the defenders. He looks best facing the goal and not with his back to it. I think if Carroll was supported well enough he´d be fine as the CF, but you´d have to get the supporting players going around him. One of the things that really impressed me with Carroll the first time i saw him (an England game) was how well he collected the ball and linked up with the midfielder. I dont have a problem having Suarez in the supporting striker role or even on a flank as long as the fullbacks are giving adequate support.
