Cos for a lot of these years he's been our only attacking outlet and teams make sure they double and triple mark him whenever he's playing. When thats the case, there need to be other players who take up the mantle in an attacking sense but we have not had that for a good while now. Torres this season, though and maybe someone else the next. If we have more than a few players who're a genuine threat, other teams will be forced to concentrate elsewhere and Steven will be a lot freerer. IMO, of course.

Clueless how to handle their mentality you mean? If you and me could probably get ourselves charged up when facing the Mancs, surely it would be easier for professional footballers to do the same. They have stuff like phychological drills that they go through pre season as well.

Babel plays on the left because it allown him to cut in and get into the box. If played on the right, taking it towards his stronger foot would mean more runs towards the byline and crossing isnt his stronger point. Didnt understand the Benayoun substitution myself, to be honest, but fair enough.

I would have agreed with this if it was 11 v 11. Who would have Rafa taken off once we were a man down? Surely taking a midfielder off (probably a wide player as we were already short in the center) would allow your fullbacks to bomb forward even more? The 2 main reasons we lost was because Alonso/Masch allowed Wes Brown to get into the box and stay there, the second was Javier's sending off. We made several other mistakes which was not made to pay, as well. The tactics werent the problem, we had a good spell in the beginning of the game..the problem was that we bottled it completely when put under a bit of pressure. Our back line has one of the best offside traps in the world, i felt sad watching the replay of the match today and seeing it broken time and time again due to slack defending.

Babel was invisible for most of the game. Didnt do much at all apart from going past Wes Brown once. Benayoun kept the ball well, nothing much could be done if he had no attacking partners but Torres as Gerrard had dropped quite deep and Kuyt was basically in our own half. Why is he getting slated?

What could he have done when there were so few Liverpool players in attacking positions. Thought he kept the ball under pressure, well myself.
