He did also make a call to play for our reserves last year so that he could get to play for the first team. As i said, there are two sides to a story and i could well be wrong but there could be a reason that he didnt leave in the summer but the money.

Pennant is right about not wanting to got to Real Madrid. The only reason they are showing interest (are they actually? Shocking) is because their squad is so threadbare that average players from the Castellon are on th bench for games. Once they get back to their shopping spree next season, Pennant will hardly get any games. What happened to McManaman and Owen is testament to that and they were actually very good players. He'll get more games at Wigan or Celtic which is his level now. He's no longer a young 'talent' anymore. People might argue that he will probably be happy sitting on the bench but i'd like to argue that he did ask to play for our reserves last year when he wasnt being picked by Rafa and i thought that showed good commitment. Of course, he did reject a move in the summer and there are always two sides to a story. He's been frozen out by Rafa and as long as he leaves us and goes elsewhere in Jan, which i think he will, i'll be happy.

I rate him myself. He's a bit hit and miss but comes up with good goals and works really hard. The fact that he's lightweight works against him but he's a good little player.

In a way i'm happy to see him play for a proper team in Olympiacos. If he had got his work permit, he would still have mainly been a part of the reserve setup than the first team. This first team exposure would help him progress more than our reserves..this isnt the first time he's scored a great goal for Olympiacos either, he's had a couple of other scorchers for them. Hopefully he can fight his way into a squad spot next season, else we'll just make a small profit on him.

He broke up their play well and gave away soft fouls in un-dangerous areas. That is very important against a team like Arsenal who like to keep it and play it around. He put in a big effort, had good work rate and made some good passes. I thought he had a good game today.

Great news. Still a big difference between fully fit and match fit though, the earlier the better. Now only Torres and Aurelio to go and we are back in business.. And Degen

Gone for 2nd as i think Chelsea will win it with their depth in squad. That said we could as easily finish anywhere in the top 3, if we are the first team to go on a solid run of wins. Getting Torres and Skrtel fully fit by the 2nd week of Jan would be huge for our team.

He's at United on loan till next season.... and is still in contract with that MSI company. He's a Rafa type player who'll work his a*** off in games should work well with Torres considering that he has the game inteligence that Rafa likes. I'm not quite sure how much MSI would want a team to pay though.

New ways of cheating discovered this season with the defensive wall moving forward even when a player is taking his run up to hit a direct free kick, without a layup and now this.

At the beginning of the season, a lot of us thought that Babel would be in consideration for the 4th choice striker position. Atleast till now, Rafa doesnt seem to think that way. Kuyt's first choice at right midfield for two seasons now, so we're basically left with Torres and Keane for the lone striker position. A lot of people believe that Keane isnt best used when played as the lone striker and also works a lot better when played with a target man. Heskey fits into that category doesnt he? Targetman who can lead the line, wouldnt mind playing second fiddle to the much better Torres (unlike Crouch, who wanted more games). What hasnt been spoken much of with regards to Heskey is his possible influence in Europe. Continental defenders hate playing good targetmen who win a lot in the air. 3 million even for Heskey isnt a bad deal at all... if Heskey ticks all the boxes that Rafa is looking for in a striker. Especially if we could win the league with some help from it. I'd have Heskey over N'Gog everytim, atleast till he bulks up a bit.
