  1. listened to that on the radio......never seen the goals, are they available anywhere??
  2. such a great goal.....also watch the way mcmahon and whelan close down QPR in midfield.....its not really that hard is it?? just shows effort and passion....now we have poulson and lucas! anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy what a great friggin side
  3. Just dug out the video (well dvd as i converted it ).......had to cheer myself up.. Amazing really, we all hear about how football is much faster now with players showing better fitness than ever before, well watching us during this time, what struck me was how quick we were, how good our movement of the ball was and HOW it looked like every player wanted to win.. How you you would see players actually get to the touchline and put a cross in..ie barnes and c johnston, HOW now you see players consistently cut in...... Also HOW whelan and Mcmahon would work their socks off closing down players in midfield, why dont we see this now? why do we see players stuck in their positions and allow opposition teams to keep the ball.. So my reaction to watching this is a strange once, joy for how f`king great we were and sadness for how far we have fallen......players at the club that do not deserve the shirt (and this has been going on for a long, long time) I was 15 during that season.....remember going to the game at Arsenal where Steve nicol scored a stunning header, also i was at the anfield QPR game where Barnes really announced himself with a genius performance... also... i miss barry davis some great comentary on our games......."and he gets a kiss for it, from a man in a blue and white striped shirt" go ahead.....name the scorer and game?.....................................
  4. so was in boston the other day....read a news article about us and the red socks, part of the piece mentioned that they were already in a deal with Fulham?!!?...something to do with marketing.. anyone heard of this?? the deal was apprently struck last year....Mr Hodgson - im looking at you....
  5. Id grab Tarratt from QPR before he costs a ton of money in the summer Diarra is a good shout also forlan....
  6. Wish that could happen, it would means putting Gerrard back alongside torres, which we all know...worked. Ther other option which prolly wont happen, would be shifting Gerrard right... i know he would be fantastic there, best crosser at the club....will show aggresion and get to the byline, can of course shoot...and will help johnson at the back If stevie doesnt like, just tell him... zidanne, nedved, ronadliniho played the same position..if you have the talent, you can really dominate games from that position.. ------------------reina------------------ johnson---agger-skrtel-----aurellio ------------------------------------------- -gerrard-lucas--mireles--jovonovic --------------------cole------------------- -------------------torres------------------- Playing agger at center back would also mean our defence will have more pace and so can shift up a good 10 yards, instead of sitting so deep.. Anyway back to poulson, hes s****.
  7. it just got worse with stokes win at newcastle....ughhhhh 14 Stoke 6 1 1 1 4 4 1 0 2 3 5 -2 7 15 Blackpool 6 0 1 1 3 4 2 0 2 6 10 -5 7 16 Liverpool 6 1 2 0 4 3 0 1 2 2 6 -3 6 17 Wolverhampton 6 1 1 1 4 4 0 1 2 3 6 -3 5 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18 Wigan 6 0 1 3 1 13 1 1 0 1 0 -11 5 19 West Ham 6 1 0 2 3 6 0 1 2 1 7 -9 4 20 Everton 6 0 2 1 4 5 0 1 2 0 2 -3 3
  8. new york red - reina johnson agger skrtel carra gerrard mireles lucas kuyt cole torres jovanovic maxi All the above are top quality players from our squad, all have represented their national team at the highest level, should we be expecting more?? of course......i certainly didnt go into this season with the above group of players thinking at best we might get a uefa league spot, no with that group of players we should be fighting for the premiership or at the very least a champs league spot......its the managers job to make a great team from them, Hodgson blatently doesnt have a clue.........the guy has NEVER won a major trophy, hes got into top jobs by being a friend it, seems of the top brass.........also to see him walking round the pitch smiling with Fergie was sickening...
  9. think Hodgson will get some time from the press, they are desperate for an english manager to be a success, plus hes a "nice guy" doesnt really say anything controversial....so theres no story to tell....
  10. Not to make things too depressing , but yes the Blackpool game is big....but the derby comes up the week after, IF we do lose to or fail to get maximum points from the Blackpool game, then Everton might have the chance to send us bottom and west ham, stoke and wigan all have games they have a good chance of winning..........cant believe we are talking about this The table really does make for depressing reading.. 15 liverpool 6 games played , 6 points 16 wolves 5 games......... , 5 points 17 wigan 6 games............ , 5 points 18 stoke 5 games.............., 4 points 19 west ham 6 games.............., 4 points 20 everton 6 games.............., 3 points.
  11. I might just ignore this season.. pull out my dvds from the treble season, or the 87-88 season....set it up so i watch a game on weds nights and saturdays at 3pm.. Then after go online and find articles or dig out my old newspapers and read the next day....
  12. i started making notes throughout that piece, but gaveup....some of the stuff coming out of his mouth is ludicrous!!!! hes talking about us as a f`king midtable team..........also "rome wasnt built in a day" give me a break!! im with you, it was a shocking performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no the fans are not gonna join you in appreciating the effort, spirt and determination.........apprently thats a step forward?!!? Fu********************** off no!!!!!!! effort , spirt and determination is EXPECTED EVERY SINGLE GAME, IF THAT ISNT THE CASE...THE PLAYER SHOULDNT BE AT THE CLUB!!!
  13. from official site.. "Hodgson told his post-match press conference: "It wasn't the result we wanted, we wanted a victory, but in many ways it was the performance we wanted[/b]"We had a bright start and lost our way, but after such a bright start I felt we could have been two goals up because I thought Torres's goal that was disallowed for offside was incorrectly ruled out. "So we did start well but then Sunderland got back into the game and evened things out. I think the penalty they got was fairly compensatory because I don't subscribe to accidental handballs, wherever a player's hand may be. For me, a handball must be intentional and there is no way anyone will persuade me that was. "So we came in at 1-1 and then suffered the real cold shower of going 2-1 down very early in the first half. But I thought the reaction of the players was extremely good. I thought we dominated the game totally after that and created lots of good chances. But unfortunately we only scored from one of them." He added: "I think over the 90 minutes we were certainly more than worth the point we got. I thought it was a very exciting second half, and I'm pretty sure the fans will join me in appreciating the effort, spirit and determination of the players. That in itself is another little step forward." Liverpool's opening goal was met by loud protests from the visiting players after referee Stuart Atwell adjudged Michael Turner to have taken a free-kick that allowed Fernando Torres to race clean through and tee up Kuyt to steer home. However, Hodgson felt the award of the goal was the correct decision. "I don't know if we were gifted a start, I thought it was a good bit of quick thinking from Torres and Kuyt," he said. "Like I said, we could have been 2-0 up because I don't think the first goal should have been ruled out. "But we were at home, we wanted to win the game and hoped to build on that but unfortunately there is an opponent to play and they had something to say in that matter. "We need to work more together, we have a lot of new players coming into team. We haven't had that much time with matches in the Europa League and the league. but I think that the more we work and the more the team plays together, the better we will become. "It's quite simply the Rome wasn't built in a day adage. There's lots of things I see in the game that I think we need to work on. But I have a group of players here who will work at it, will get better and I think you saw that during the course of the game today." Quizzed by journalists as to whether he thought it was a game Liverpool needed to win if they have aspirations of challenging at the top, Hodgson said: "Look at the results today - Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all lost. "These are games we all need to win, but the league is very, very tight. If we had won today we could have found ourselves in fourth or fifth place. I don't think we are playing like a team in fourth or fifth just yet, but that's how close the league is. There's not a lot between teams and it should be seen as how hard the Barclays Premier League is." Asked about the fans' protest following the match, Hodgson said: "I don't think anybody at the club wants anything but a solution to the ownership problem. The fans here are very passionate and care an awful lot about this football club. You cannot criticise them for showing their displeasure about the situation, because like ourselves they want to see the club moving forward and not sort of stuck with owners who are trying to sell the club." "
  14. Gerrard skrtel . . . . . . . . . . . maybe kuyt for the goal
  15. its not like we dont have the players.. We have some top quality players who would get into any side...ie reina, torres, gerrard some teams are lucky to have 1 world class player, we have 3... Then we have a number of good players who would get into most teams ie..mireles,agger,j cole, kuyt So whats wrong, we dont have the players?? BULL......we have the quality they are not being used the correct way, down to bad coaching..you could see that from todays game, awful passing, movement, players on different wavelengths...passes into empty spaces
  16. im all for the "give the guy a chance", "hes nice".....well thats all well and good, except he doesnt look like he has a fkfiifjifwopfopdwpf clue!!! Seriously...look at our line up, Best center back left on the bench....a blatently "injured since hes been here" konchesky (hasnt he gone down every game, or gone off every game injured???),, Sticking mireles right? or behind torres, and not in the middle....which meant putting Gerrard c-mid, when its proven more powerful and stronger for the team when hes alongside Torres.. Playing Poulson ahead of Lucas....right im not lucas` biggest fan, but compared to Poulsen he plays like Platini.. Joe Cole left mid.....he aint a left midfielder, if you cant play him in the middle then he shouldnt start in my opinion as it gives us no width whatsoever, seeing as kuyt is certain to always start right... The effort was there today, but our movement and passing was appalling, i cannot believe this is down to us having awful players (poulson aside)....but more the coaching.. livid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Agger overrated ?!?!?! No chance , As a left back he ain't much......but when we have seen him in his proper position, center back......he's been excellent, best defender at the club
  18. Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll jovanovic
  19. Agger reckons he was mis-quoted...from off Daniel Agger today hit back at suggestions he has criticised the Reds' style of play under manager Roy Hodgson and insisted: "I'm happy at Liverpool." The Reds' defender spoke to Danish TV following Sunday's defeat to Manchester United, after which quotes attributed to him emerged in the Danish press which seemed to indicate he was unhappy with the role he was being asked to play in the Liverpool team. Agger was keen to set the record straight when he sat down with Liverpoolfc.tv at Melwood today. "I am very disappointed with the papers in Denmark for the way they have done this story," he said. "I spoke to Danish TV after the game on Sunday and answered the questions that were put to me. I didn't speak to the papers. "The problem was the questions never appeared on TV, only the answers did, and then the newspapers put their own questions in. What came out was one hundred per cent wrong and that is why I am very disappointed. "An example is the quote about me not playing long balls. The TV journalist asked me what I needed to do to get back into the team and suggested I should start hitting more long balls. I said I wouldn't do that because I'm not that kind of player. That's where that quote came from. "I actually think we play good football and that we have showed that against Manchester United and against Arsenal. "What I don't understand is that it was only a few days ago when I spoke to the media ahead of the Steaua Bucharest game and I think I said everybody at the club was happier now with the new manager, the new players and the new methods. It's strange to read this just a few days later but that's the way the media works, especially in Denmark. They don't have much to write about so they look for every little thing and try to make a big sensation out of it. "I have been involved in every game this season. Of course I'm disappointed when I'm not in the team, but I have been here for five years and really like it here. I wouldn't have stayed for this long if I didn't like it or if I was unhappy. I am still happy and will keep fighting for my place." .
  20. As i said originally, the source is of course awful(but its worth talking about)....still if we continue in the current vein, these reports will be common with journos doing all they can to get Hodgson out..nothing like a managerial hunt to get one sacked so early in the season...especially at liverpool. currently we are 16th....what if we lose 2 out of the next 4 games??? Then yes Hodgson will be in serious trouble.. I really want to give the guy a chance, he comes across as a nice guy (in that Roy Evans vein) but is he the right man RIGHT NOW?? i dont believe so....this is a massive job, i dont feel Hodgson has the tools for it. And yes i hope he proves me wrong.... The Everton game really is massive now.
  21. right i know that its a rubbish source....at the same time, i really dont think that many fans would be that dissapointed if we did get rid so soon.. While it was probably the right time for Rafa to leave, bringing Hodgson in was always a mistake (at least in my opnion) he doesnt seem to have a clue....
  22. Not one to read much into rumours, but with our start to the season... i wouldnt be suprised. Plus it probably warrants a discussion, could Roys tenure be the shortest in the history of liverpool fc? also does he deserve longer and if so...how long With Aggers coments coming out today, there obviously seems to be some tensions in the camp.. Anyway.. http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/liverpool-boss-on-brink-of-sack? Liverpool are getting ready to replace under fire manager Roy Hodgson with former Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill if their takeover goes through, according to the Daily Star. After a seventh placed finish last term, which led to Rafael Benitez’s dismissal, Hodgson has been charged with bringing stability back to the Merseysiders. However, a poor start to this season, which culminated in a 3-2 loss to arch-rivals Manchester United yesterday, sees Liverpool lying in 16th position. And the two consortiums trying to buy the crisis-torn Anfield club both believe O’Neill has a better chance of bringing the glory days back to Liverpool than Hodgson. Despite Tom Hicks and George Gillett’s unwillingness to sell for anything less than £600 million, Royal Bank of Scotland will threaten to seize control of the club if a £280 million debt is not paid off. Hicks is now looking to finance that before the October 11 deadline in order to hang onto the club and Hodgson is fighting a double-edged sword. He knows the club needs new owners in order to move forward – he will have no money to spend in January if the Americans retain control – but if they are brought out then his job is in serious jeopardy
  23. Riise was always errrr well riise, didn't really improve....was always poor in defence, decent going forward with a great shot on him....nothing more nothing less
  24. I left Nicol out cos he was mainly a right back.....Zeige because his bad skin maybe me feel sick at the thought of typing his name out...ughh see i just typed his name and im coming out in blisters, errrr and my hair is turning a bright shade of yellow............... i need a shower. Regarding Kennedy, yeah he was seen as the weak link for awhile, but really grew as time went on at anfield and in the end became a quality player(obviously helped he was surrounded by such class every week too)
  25. well for left back over the past, well 15 odd years.. Riise - decent going forward, great shot on him....average as a defender, terrible positional play Aurellio - good going forward- injury prone..when we have seen him, ive never been that impressed with his defending doessna - looked out of his depth traore - terrible positonal sense, never looked confident...rubbish player Insua - played far too many games last season, didnt look quite ready....would rather he had been kept as back up Stig Inge Bjørnebye - had a decent cross on him, thoughwas far too slow at the back...again another to add in the "poor defender" category julian dicks - horrible little man greg vignal - didnt get many chances, but when he did....look out of his depth, him and insua very similar for me So whats my point, well my point is...left back has been a problem position for us since maybe the days of alan kennedy....Riise maybe the most solid left back we`ve had in the past 10 years(and that aint saying much) And Mr konchesky, while not a fashionable player.....has certainly proven to be consistent the past few years with both west ham and charlton, maybe this is what we need for left back(after so many foreign high profile failures)........... * and if ive missed any quality left backs out..let me know! maybe my memory has been frazzled slightly!
