I quite like kerkez - can’t expect a Robbo clone from a 21 year old. Especially under slot ball. Virgil Jacquet arauljo Leoni look a solid pool, Gomez as fifth. Frimpong (from first half comp) looked ok. Barcola and Rio on the left is solid. Munoz mbaye (dom?) feels a little raw on the other side, but will have surprise factor. Isak looks good so far and Wirtz is solid. i feel like we need a 6 in the pool of midfielders, as an option at least. a striker would be nice, but don’t see who we sign as 3rd choice, for good value. we are coming off our greatest side and greatest manager in decades. Was always going to be an adjustment. Trent and konate hurt more than I would like, and the rest had to happen quickly. ages and quality of signings are generally good. Would like a bit more grit and snide - hopefully can develop that. assume we get Barcola, mbaye and a midfielder, I’m quietly positive about this next cycle.

First football of preseason for me that first half. can see the signs. I reckon it’ll be October before we see consistency though. if patient, can see this coming together nicely. Throw in Barcola and then the options of the unknown - mbaye, Rio and Munoz. i liked the backline - still look prone to errors though - will take some time but araujo and Jacquet look an upgrade on konate and Gomez. Frimpong and kerkez look good, and feel like got more to go. Ali going to be impossible to replace. Midfield is the unknown - coming together nicely, but feels like one more would be good. big 2 weeks ahead and then a big 8 weeks on the training ground. definitely more optimistic now than before, and feels far away from slotball. Players seemed happier (and dare I say fitter too).

Can’t see them loading debt on the club. no one is buying an elite sport for billions to make money on a profit. Only happens by increasing value. That only happens if winning and successful. Leveraged buy out was the way 20 years ago and still happens, but increasing revenue far more lucrative. Liverpool is worth more to them if we have a billion revenue and winning, than a leveraged buy out.

Can’t see us buying another striker. We spent 200mil last summer on two quality ones. Jones is off by sounds of it. Hopefully we get another mid. Ideally a 6.
