  1. Then it wil look like rafa has really lost hope in signing alves, which i dont believe, but iif so he may be gambling that pennant alone can give us the necessary width down the right, knowing full well that gerrard/garcia can play there if pennant fails. for the record i dont believe the joaquin rumours are true. if he leaves betis they will ask a s***load of money for him as he is their only prized asset, plus if he leaves he will certainlly prefer madrid. agreed, by deadwood i meant that they can easily be replaced by LFC with the aim of making some profit from their transfers.
  2. i think rafa wants both pennant and alves for the RM spots. trabelsi as cover to finn krompy a chance to earn a few quid from, cos trabelsi is being brought in for free. Garcia will be our super-sub still need another striker though. considering various solid reports that brum owe us money on heskey, pennat is an LFC boy-hood fan we will need to spend another 27mill tops.(12mill RW) 12MILL(ST) (3MILL PENNAT) Do we have the money?? We already spent 6.5(bellamy), 2mill (palletta) from our kitty, earned 3mill from nando, maybe earn another 7mill selling all deadwood including krompy/dudek etc perhaps it can be done. C'MON RAFA!!
  3. yup last couple of pieces to rafa s jisgaw...viva la rafalution!!! P.S. hope all new signings live up to their hype, and not falter re nando/cisse.... In that case: welcome to LFC lads!

    Mark Gonzalez

great piece of news this! if gonzalez plays as he played for sociedad last season we have a true legend in the making for a couple of quid too!!
  5. Liverpool put in massive bid for Madrid target July 5th, 2006 in England by dudubrdx link Liverpool have put together a massive bid for Real Betis wing ace Joaquin. Reds boss Rafa Benitez is willing to offer £12 million plus fringe players Jerzy Dudek, Bolo Zenden and Antonio Barragan for the Spain international, reports AS. Betis have welcomed the interest, with new president Pepe Leon admitting they?re prepared to sell Joaquin this summer - if the right offer arrives. Liverpool want to split the cash component in two, with an initial £7 million arriving before a second installment of £5 million being paid in 18 months time. who the hell is dudubrdx ??? probably tribal football but as the saying goes, "thers no smoke without fire"
  6. hope we sign both...and move garcia in the hole.

i hate bargains. hate their negative boomerang effect
  8. since i happen to consider reyes and fabregas top quality players, i do not find it insulting at all.
  9. Once again Garcia ahead vs the likes of Joaquin and Reyes and Alonso ahead also vs Fabregas, Iniesta, Albelda. Well done lads! Reina should be ahead of Casillas

  11. i would be veeeeeerrry happy with gonzalez, bellamy, alves, kuyt or saviola hopefully also pennant and a Cd auerelio? (never remmember of watching him play but trust rafa on that one) if rafa manages to haul the above targets we would have a team able to compete for the title. main targets : 2 good strikers 1 hopefully 2 RW(Alves the defensive winger, pennant the attacking winger, Garcia in the hole) Others: 1 good Cd (in case Hyppia realises his age) 1CM (didi replacement) Formation time: Reina Finnan Hyppia Carra Riise Alves Gerrard Alonso Gonzalez Bellamy Kuyt Bench Carson? Aurelio Momo Garcia/Kewell/Pennant Crouch With that team and if all the signings live to their hype we wont be far from lifting the title.

As for the liverpool way dont forget we signed king kenny for a transfer record fee, same can be said to barnes and beardsley but i understand and adhere to your point. if we can find genuine talent for smaller fees it always has a much better taste.

agree but spending big gives you more guarantees that the added new player is world class and will dramatically improve your side. For e.g. if we could spend big i prefer to spend 20mill on robben than 9mill on alves cos with robben i would have morw guarantees that i have a world class winger nested for the next 5 years or more, now alves can turn out to be just as good but there is a greater margin for error with the latter. stating the obvious really. chelsea spent over 300mill and have a world class side which can genuinly challenge all major honours, we on the other hand...are always tipted to haul another major surprise but depends very much on rafa s judgement and his ability to identify players in which i have faith but...he isnt infallible re nando. i am sure he would love to splash 30 mill on schevchenko but now he just have to decide which is the safer bet betwenn the likes of bellamy/kuyt / defoe/ bent etc. Real Madrid are a club with a load of dosh but are the most ill-managed club in the world. As for Inter Milan as much as Moratti loves the club he is also one of their major reasons for their downfall cos at times he compels his managers to buy players he likes even vs their very advice re. recoba plus Juve s criminal scandalous behaviour in match or title fixing schemes. It s not that it is money whch exclusively guarantees major honours, but it is one important, major factor to do just that.
  14. seems we will surely land either kuyt/bellamy/defoe. all valid players in my book. if by playing with more talented players, on bigger stages with more pressure they turn into world class is another matter, but certainly all have the ability to improve our current side. hope it s two out of three though.

It is annoying! But we have to compete with the likes of chelski and manure who spend big. Chelsea won the league and they already strengthed their side with two world class players in schevchenko and ballack. Manure are strongly touted this year to spend big with persistent rumours of 20 mill rumours for one player i.e Torres and above the 10mill mark for carrick, albeit they would still need a couple more i.e. a world class left winger and another CM to complete their jigsaw. Sadly i dont think we have enough cash to spend 20mill on one player so yes, in today s football 20/25 mill available as the whole kitty is skint. i just hope rafa manages to identify the players we need, and secure them at reasonable prices and hopefully we will have a good enough side to genuinly compete for the title. We all know he can perform wonders with tight budgets so i am just sitting tight and hoping for the best, but certainly am under no illusion that we have as much as money to spend as manure heve or even dare say spurs.

Sevilla target Arsenal defender 14:12 June, 16, 2006 Sevilla are set to launch a bid for Arsenal Football Club defender Lauren. The Spaniards have identified the Cameroon international is they lose Daniel Alves to Liverpool, with the player earlier this week revealing he wants to move to Anfield. Lauren has lost his place in the Gunners side to Emmanuel Eboue, and would be tempted to return to La Liga after starring for Real Mallorca before his move to England. The 29-year-old has spent six years at Arsenal, and until the emergence of Eboue, the right back slot has been his own after he replaced Lee Dixon. link
  18. If they turn out to be good valid players for us... i 'd be happy with Aurelio, Gonzalez and Paletta, Alves, one striker, one central midfielder, and possibly a reserve keeper. i just hope we buy that many. They will globally cost around the 35mill mark even more..... Kewell can play upfront so can Garcia. Kuyt/kewell/garcia /crouch/sinama/fowler with gonzalez and alves supplying ammunition not a bad combo inmho.

  21. The infamous Ade Akinbyi has scored 3 more goals than johnson this season. Johnson stands in 7th place with Marlon King at the top of the chart with 6 more goals than AJ. Cant beleive some of you would prefer AJ over Defoe. I dont think Defoe is overrated at all. The fact that Jol chooses to play Keane over him, doesnt make him a bad player. That is his opinion and a wrong one Imho. defoe has speed, skill, pace and can score goals. Would be chuffed if we d signed him.
  22. rafa must have his genius bulb on at full flow all summerto be able to address the team s defecincies, e.g. he must try to exploit Nando s reputation in Spain and try a part-exchange deal, plus cash for a Villa for e.g. same goes for cisse in France. dude will fetch a relatively good price and hope for the best for the others..
  23. feckin mancs! Lucky b******s.... still prefer that our luck chose to desert us on Sat. and flows next Wed. We bloody deserve some.
  24. Although inexperienced i would still pick Lennon over another central midfielder like Jenas. In Parker and Carrick you have two holding midfieders and in Gerrard and Lampard you have two attacking midfielders...Why another midfieder like Jenas who probably wont play? In Lennon you have a pacey winger who can make things happen, another version of SWP, would be a healthy substitute. Downing still a good call but think Lennon just edges it in for a place in the 23. Agree that Lampard/Gerrad partnership isnt the balanced combo and carrick/gerrard would be my first choice.
