  7. We did a Liveprool: Eto'o SAMUEL Eto'o said Barcelona had drawn inspiration from Liverpool to come from behind and beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Champions League final today (AEST). The Cameroon striker, named man of the match, scored the second-half equaliser with Juliano Belletti netting the winner after Arsenal, reduced to 10 men, had taken a 37th-minute lead. "We never thought the game was lost," Eto'o said. "After having seen what Liverpool did last year we told ourselves not to throw in the towel. "We followed Liverpool's example." Liverpool staged the most remarkable comeback in the competition's history when fighting back from 3-0 down at half-time against AC Milan in Istanbul last year to force the game into extra-time and then win on penalties. "In the final you can't doubt yourselves," Eto'o said. "The final's played right up to the last whistle. We covered ourselves in the spirit of Liverpool." Eto'o then tried to sum up what it meant for Barcelona to leave the Stade de France with the European crown tucked under its arms. nice to know we are linked with comebacks and never giving up.

don't think that was his intention to discredit rafa ,but rafa has made some bad signings like every manager in history ,most have been for relative peanuts though apart from mori . think you're being a bit touchy like.
  13. the rafa shuffle but I misssed it .
  14. its making me laugh ,I went on the dogsy chelsea forum and theres a poster on there called cubano pete educating his own fans on what is obvious to the rest of us. http://www.dogsy.com/fm/viewtopic.php?t=15225 ,you don't have to log in ,I thought the title of the post was quite apt.
  15. was reading kenny cunninghams comments which ripped into steve bruce before and he mentioned how teams had basically worked out birmingham ,they just tried shutting pennant down cos on the left they were weak anyway in a 4-4-2 system ,kenny thought bruce was inept and should have stuck with 4-3-3 and used jarosik better who was rubbish stuck out wide . looking at the context ,pennant still managed to make a good impact despite being in a struggling team with a crap manager and being singled out by the opposition. Bloody hell if we can get him reasonable then we shouldn't hang about.
  16. Morientes holds head up high as he walks alone By Oliver Kay HIS former team-mates at Real Madrid keep telling him how much they envy him, but Fernando Morientes, it seems, is yet to be totally convinced. Life at Anfield, the Spaniard maintains, is good. But, while Rafael Benítez and Xabi Alonso have immersed themselves into Liverpudlian culture, their compatriot has barely dipped his toe in ? a reflection, one might say, of his largely disappointing form since swapping Madrid for Merseyside. Maybe it is because he was part of a great football institution in Madrid, maybe it is because he arrived in Liverpool seven months after Benítez, the manager, began his ?Rafa- lution?, maybe it is because he was on the sidelines, ineligible, when Alonso, Luis García and even the long-forgotten Josémi partied on the rostrum in Istanbul after that stunning Champions League triumph last May. Whatever the explanation, Morientes gives the impression of a man who, contrary to the club?s anthem, walks alone. ?I would love to say I can share the same sentiment towards this club as I did at Real Madrid,? the 30-year-old forward said, ?but I have to be realistic and say I?m never going to be able to share the same sentiment as Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, who live and breathe this club. ?The same could be said of Michael Owen when he went to Real Madrid. I?m sure if he was honest, he would say he couldn?t share in the history of that club like I can. I don?t have Liverpool?s history in my head.? Other overseas imports, though, have taken Liverpool to their hearts ? Sami Hyypia, Dietmar Hamann, John Arne Riise, Jerzy Dudek and, of the new breed, Alonso and García. Alonso even led Morientes through a rendition of You?ll Never Walk Alone at the end of the FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea last month. But then Alonso?s bond with the supporters was strengthened by the journey to, and the events in, Istanbul, where he scored the equalising goal against AC Milan. Alonso has already written himself into Liverpool folklore whereas Morientes, with only 12 goals in 60 appearances for the club, remains an Anfield enigma. ?I?m just being realistic,? Morientes said. ?I?m a professional footballer. We always try to make the most of our own individual careers and at the same time try to make sure the club achieves great things as well. ?That doesn?t mean I don?t want to be a part of the club. I?m proud to wear the shirt of a club that I consider the biggest in England. But maybe the more finals you play in and the more trophies you win, the greater the affinity and affection you will have.? A good job, then, that he has an opportunity to etch his name into Liverpool?s history tomorrow, when he is likely to start against West Ham United in the FA Cup Final. ?I think you?re right to say that you?ve not seen the real Morientes since I arrived here in Liverpool,? he said. ?I?m the first to be disappointed with my form. ?But Saturday provides a stage for me to announce myself and I have a real desire to take that chance. What better time than Saturday to go and do it? And then you will see the real Morientes.? Perhaps not, given that he, along with Djibril Cissé, is likely to be open to offers this summer as Benítez looks to bring in a top-class centre forward, but Morientes does not expect tomorrow to be his farewell appearance for the club. ?You never know what is ahead in football, but I would like to finish my career here,? he said. ?If I was to leave this summer, maybe it would be on a low note as so far I have not achieved what I want to. But, as I intend to stay, maybe I will get to share the same sentiment that people are talking about.? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-2176651,00.html
  17. what a whopper ,"Being an Evertonian isn't through choice like most of your fans" I read bluekipper forum for a laugh and the slogan they use is something crap like 'evertonians are made not manufactured' .I didn't realise evertonians were the only fans that got their love of the club from their family ,you really are special indeed. I'll just settle for the shankly s*** meself.

  21. charlton to battle relegation next season ,?
  22. only 2 years on his contract ?,then he has to sign a new one or leave I would have thought ,we've been s*** on too many times letting players contracts run down to a year with owen or no years like macca.
  23. surely aurelio would choose us over villareal at least ? reina have a word .
  24. I feel sick when people try so hard to be patriotic and then the sponsers and businesses latch onto it . I remember watching the cricketers run out to 'jerusalem' and they wanted everyone to join in and the words were printed in the newspapers ,f***ing stomach churning . The only time that would could ever be acceptable to me is if crouch scored the winning goal to win england the world cup and then ran past the england fans with 2 fingers up.
