some pretty poignant comments on there. "Personally I thought that the stadium didnt represent Arsenal it was more like cardiff or a neutral ground there was no arsenal emblems or anything to do with us" " Nothing worse than seeing your football culture turn to disneyland. I've seen it at OT for many years" "I must admit i was buzzing all week, was proper looking forward to it, but left feeling more than a little disheartened. Don't get me wrong it's impressive from the outside but inside it's could be any ground in f***ing England. It's one big concrete jungle, i mean Highbury had character." "2 people next to me even left with 10 mins to go and didnt applaud dennis off the pitch at the end, what the f*** is that about" "The ground looks great from the outside and i'm sure every away fan that come here will be in awe and feel quite jealous. But to me it's just not Arsenal. There's just not that proper 'football' feel that Highbury had at all, it's just another concrate construction in order to take money from us. When I was walking along the bridge I thought it looked more like a shopping complex than a football ground!" the comments just go on and on.Make no mistake this is the future for the new anfield ,it will be no different ,no more special ,and no more distinctive. People are obsessed these days with how everything looks ,if it doesn't look good ,shiny and brand new then it must be s**** like.Even in the golf at hoylake loads of people complaining about the grass not being f***ing green ,so f***ing what ? I have loved the descriptions about wembley in particular the most overpriced stadium ,the epitome of what is wrong with football ,the f***** isn't even finished yet and they advertise it by saying how much leg room you have to sit down . basically sit down ,shut the f*** up and pay up is the motto.

I don't share your pessimism rafa might be a last resort but I don't think he'll be coming back without his man even if he has to fight del nido in the processs. Benitez has told friends "however long it takes I will get him." I believe ya rafa.

Bolton Wanderers will attempt to bolster their defensive ranks with the signings of Abdoulaye Méité and Djimi Traoré from Marseille and Liverpool respectively as Sam Allardyce reshapes his squad for the new season. The 25-year-old Méité was frustrated last season at Stade Vélodrome, where he featured only 13 times, and the Ivory Coast international, who has long interested Allardyce, is expected to complete a £1m move over the weekend. He is likely to be joined by Traoré, 26, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield. Bolton are expected to offer £1.5m for the player who cost Liverpool £550,000 from Laval seven years ago. Traoré's departure will be followed by further squad trimming at Liverpool, with Antonio Barragán expected to join Deportivo La Coruña in a £1.7m deal and the likes of Jerzy Dudek, Salif Diao, Anthony Le Tallec and Carl Medjani all effectively available for transfer. from the guardian today ...http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1820049,00.html

Which is why the football associations across europe were allowed some discretion in their decison making of nominating teams to enter the champions league ,so if a team had qualified for the champions league and then subsquently got relegated or whatever then they could nominate someone else. This debate of nomination got notice with us and everton when the FA failed to nominate the winners of the competition and chose everton instead. Not sure what happens now.I would think the italian FA have the power to choose someone else on league placing.

DUDEK: THANKS FOR HELPING FIND MY MEDALS Paul Eaton 13 July 2006 Jerzy Dudek today spoke of his delight after being reunited with a career's worth of footballing memorabilia - including the medal he won at the Champions League final in Istanbul. Dudek returned from holiday in the summer to discover his home had been burgled and the robbers had made off with numerous items, including priceless medals and shirts collected during his illustrious career. Thankfully, the Liverpool goalkeeper has now been reunited with his trophies and he's keen to thank everyone who played a part in catching the thieves. He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I want to say a big thank you to Merseyside Police because they were so helpful throughout what was a difficult time for me. It wasn't nice to know that people had been in my house taking my belongings but the police did a very professional job and managed to get most of my things back. "I also want to thank the Liverpool Echo newspaper because they reported the news and gave it a big headline and I think that helped in me getting the most important items back. I haven't got everything back yet but the big things, like my Champions League medal and other footballing medals, are back with me. "To be honest I never thought I would get them back. I came home from holiday and saw my house in such a mess and thought to myself that they'd all gone forever. It was a dreadful moment for me. "Then when I was on holiday with some friends in my village in Poland the good news came through. I have helped start a football club over there and because it was the end of their season we were all together to have a barbeque. A friend of mine called me to say the police had been in touch to say they have found almost everything. I just exploded with joy and started screaming 'yes, yes, yes'. Everyone around me was asking what had happened and I shouted back 'They've found my medals'. It was a great moment for me. Everyone was so happy. "I returned home a week later and the police delivered three big boxes containing all my stuff. My camera was even there which the robbers had used to take photographs of themselves! "I'm still missing some things such as watches from the Dutch FA and Polish FA and the shirt I wore in the Worthington Cup final. I even heard a story that someone tried to sell that framed shirt in a pub! That's the kind of story I can laugh about now because I have most things back." Dudek added: "The fact that so many fans wrote to me and emailed me messages of support tells you everything about this club and its supporters. The relationship between the two is fantastic. "I had emails from lots of fans saying they would scour websites for me to see if they could find anyone trying to sell my medals and shirts. It made me feel really emotional to know they were willing to go out of their way to help me. Liverpool fans will never, ever let you down. "Again, I just want to thank Merseyside Police, the Liverpool Echo and every supporter who helped me during this horrible time." http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060713-1341.htm

Alou diarra (mystery man) playing for france in a world cup final ,and marco materazzi winning the world cup ,strange very strange.
-
I can't really pretend to be outraged cos I was laughing too much at the time ,I was hoping he would knock the world cup off its stand when he walked past it as well to complete the enjoyment. zidane had a moment of madness most players do ,its absurd to think he won't be remembered as anything other than a great player.
-
I'm surprised he hasn't demanded a first team place yet......
