Wharton might be a bit lazy. His parents had to be called into Blackburn’s academy repeatedly because of his attitude.

Already worried there’s going to be a ‘oooh Andoni Iraola’ chant to the tune of the Hokey Cokey. -
Rodri looked completely shot last night. And he’s got to go to a World Cup. I wouldn’t bank on him being fit next season.
-
I probably wouldn’t, but regardless of who they sign, City cannot replace him. They fell to pieces when he went off against Bournemouth.
-
Short term cheaper signing with prem experience alongside a younger rapid winger with potential actually makes sense.

Edwards/Hughes tried to tie themselves to a strategy of a smaller, higher quality squad, running less and therefore having less injuries to compete. Iraola has his teams running more than anyone else, so we’d need a bigger squad. I reckon we buy loads of fast skilful young lads and just have lots of fun. -

A mate’s 7 yr old lad told him he didn’t want to go to the match any more because fans were kicking off with each other at the Spurs home game and the atmosphere was completely toxic. -

Good article on Iraola. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/andoni-iraola-interview-bournemouth-manager-b2685398.html -
It also needs pace down both flanks and crosses which are timed for Isak’s runs.

There’s a brilliant video of him explaining to Mbappe why he needs to press, and using Michael Jordan as an example of a superstar who puts huge amount of wider effort into his game. Passionate, clever, articulate, inspiring. The anti Slot. ps. Mbappe still chooses to be a lazy selfish egotistical d****ead - but Enrique’s approach is wonderful. -
Some of the comments go beyond just disagreeing with their opinion. And that’s the unfair bit.

I find the sniping at the ex YNWA TAW lot a bit off really. They’re not a bunch of AFTV whoppers monetizing anger and outrage. They are supposed to have opinions and thoughts on football - that’s why people pay a subscription - and of course they will get that wrong from time to time. We all do. They just have a microphone in front of them when they talk.

It’s a good safe place for kids to grow up, but it’s the opposite of cool. -

Ibou lives there. Harvey Elliot used to. I find it a very weird insular place, where people feel insecure about their wealth because there’s always someone with a big better car and bigger better house. Barely a decent pub and nowhere really good for a meal. Birkdale is still nice if we’re counting that as part of Southport and that’s where all the ex footie players live. -

I do think Diogo’s death had a significant impact on pre season and fitness levels. But the failure is to not find a way to address that over the course of the season and perhaps sacrificing some tactical work for fitness work, especially when they were only playing one game per week. -

Arteta will win it. But Iraola hasn’t lost a Premier League game since 3rd January.

Even that line feels like a press officer has written it. It is not entirely definite and unequivocal. I’m probably clutching at straws. -
He might be the best passer of the ball in the league. He becomes a massive asset while playing Wirtz and also a considerable weakness. He’d get the ball to Wirtz in attacking positions really quickly, but his lack of pace, physicality and mobility would mean having two slow midfielders and getting overrun.

Slot would probably tell them that the lad they imposed on him was s*** and when they got rid of him things improved. -

Really? No idea. Maybe he’s a bit of a prick, but he’s clearly a decent manager. -

I’m alright with having a bit of a b*****d. And he’s a very good manager. Bayern won the league the season they sacked him and replaced him with Tuchel - despite Tuchel losing 2 of the remaining 8 games, Nagelsmann lost 3 in 25 and won every single champions league game. -
From Opta's Post-Shot Expected Goals (PSxG) (measures shot-stopping efficiency by comparing actual goals conceded against the quality of shots faced) Lammens and Trafford have both got above 10 in full seasons and they are outliers - really good goalkeepers can be around 6-8 goals prevented.
-
I know they’re not arguing that. I’m just making the point that we shouldn’t be looking to make do with a good goalie, we should want an exceptional one. Trafford and Lammens have the potential to be exceptional. There will be others.
