  1. The issue might well be that there’s a price for other clubs and then there’s a higher price for Liverpool. It might explain the tactic of waiting until another club agrees a fee and then we swoop in.
  2. I think it’s Koumas. Harvey had a shot at impressing Iraola and he could’ve spent the whole summer running in order to fit in with the new manager’s style. He didn’t and needs to work hard to salvage what looked like an incredibly promising career. At least his Dad won’t be driving around in that obnoxious Lamborghini anymore.
  3. Re Barcola - he’ll get goals and assists, but mindful that Jarg spotted how he made PSG play worse whenever he came on. There’s a player there though. And his pace (potentially with Munoz on the other flank) will be transformative compared to last season.
  4. He played well in an attacking sense, but he had zero defensive intensity.
  5. Fully agree. Complacency everywhere and an expectation that the mega rich new ‘owners’ will want their own approach, so this window is essentially ‘this will do.’
  6. I thought the desire to move the ball quickly, Jaquet’s comfort on the ball, the more ‘vertical’ passing and the pressing to push Thiaw into making long passes were all positives.
  7. They’ve got Palestra too. Unless Alexander-Arnold is willing to re think his whole approach to the game and get back to the lad without the Balon D’Or ego and with the desire to run up and down the line relentlessly, he’ll be in Turkey in no time.
  8. Tielemans is a really good footballer, but he can’t run, and playing him as one of two defensive midfielders with Fernandes much further up the pitch looks like a ridiculous decision.
  9. I saw a few stats on Minteh that were interesting. He’s 95th+ percentile against other premiership wingers for dribbles/completed dribbles, crosses and successful crosses. He’s no Jacob Murphy, but there’s something to work with there.
  10. Hmmmmm. Hard disagree, he could contribute in the hectic schedule of games in the last two weeks of October and the whole of November and December.
  11. Why is anyone laughing? Clubs buy players for the next 4 years + not only for the next few months. If they are the right player and the injury isn’t serious or long term it should present no problem.
  12. Or Ben Davies from Preston……..
  13. The shouts for a lad to start games for us when he couldn’t get a game at Championship clubs were the result of Slot sending us all half mad.
  14. I’ve mentioned it before, but this is the best achievement in the Premier League last season. They had the 17th highest wage bill, lost the keeper and 3 of his first choice back four, their best player was sold in January - and they went unbeaten for longer than any club. They also went to the Emirates and won. This is a seriously good coach.
  15. Palace made a bid for Lamine Camara - which sort of suggests that they might be looking for a replacement for Wharton. Araujo, Jacquet and Munoz came out of nowhere with no prior hype or gossip. It suggests that we can do transfers quietly and efficiently sometimes.
  16. I like this post. I wonder how much of the issue was the lack of coaching and clarity from Slot about what he wanted from Kerkez.
  17. He’s a conundrum considering it was made clear by his agent that he’s staying. He doesn’t have the pace or athleticism to play as one of the two central midfielders in an Iraola midfield. He too frequently is run/dribbled past and last season he ran into trouble and fell over feigning injury far too often. Our best chance to get something out of him, if he’s hanging around, is to play him as the 10 and use his brilliant football intelligence to find gaps and put wingers in behind defences.
  18. I don’t think anyone in the footballing structure wants him there. There just doesn’t seem to be anyone who wants to buy him. For all that people moan about Edwards he was excellent at selling players.
  19. Man City, Arsenal, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford beg to differ. the issue is getting the right DOF, the right manager and the right strategy all aligned.
  20. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/47895665/barcelona-araujo-anxiety-seeking-help-key-recovery
  21. Injury prone probably isn’t the right description. Aside from one serious hamstring injury in 24/25 he’s only been unavailable for 5 league games in the last 3 years through injury. He was only unavailable for a spell last season due to depression and a stomach bug.
  22. Aside from one hamstring injury in the 24/25 season his availability is pretty good over the past 3 seasons. A bit of love, a different tactical structure and he could be a terrific asset.
  23. Spence isn’t a good footballer. But his pace and desire make him really useful and Tuchel played him a fair amount which means he can be trusted tactically
  24. 10-15 mill each. And 2 lots of wages. It all helps.
  25. We can sell Endo and Tsmikas as well. And buy Djed Spence to cover full back positions.
