I agree, I think Pavlyuchenko would be a better singing. At least he's got a decent first touch unlike Cole or Jones. Both of their games seem built around their strength.

His goal against Man U was very good too.

Nothing will be decided until late on the season. What might give is the edge is that we've been in this situation before and succeeded, where all (apart from Everton) failed (how they managed to finish 4th with a negative goal difference still perplexes me). Also - as usual, we'll get better and better after the new year.

That was a f***ing shambles. However, the slagging off of Liverpool in this forum is even f***ing worse. We've still not started two consecutive premier league games with the same back four and we keep conceeding s**** goals. GET f***ING USED TO IT. GET BEHIND THE f***ING TEAM. It's relative to the other midfielders though isn't it? Chelsea during that time played with wingers and 2 strikers. We with Gerrard mostly play with 1 striker and another body in midfield.

Definitely. The Keane debacle for me is a defence of Benitez and not a slight. He wanted Keane AND Barry. He got Keane and was told to make do. He then sells him on as that's not what he had in mind, only to have the money disappear. It's a terrible way to treat a manager - especially one which is expected to challenge for the league title each season. Every time he finds a solution he's handed two problems.

No. That's short sighted. The squad's fitness and strength (as Aquilani) becomes fit will (hopefully) tell over the rest of the season. The Lyon game needs to be played in isolation and with the fittest team and squad we can get together over the next 4 days. Fulham away on November 5th is NOT a must win game for us to 4th. Benitez has done the right thing today regrarding the CL. This season and next.

Seriously - critism of todays result is grossly unfair. Our squad was thin before the injuries and now the flu and we've got a real make or break game on Wednesday. IF we lose that - we're probably out of the European Cup. The result today merely lengthens the very slim chance (thanks to recent injuries and results) we have of winning the league. The subs of Torres and Benayoun were no doubt difficult decisions to make, but criticism of those decisions is near sighted.

Dempsey didn't need to get Degen sent off then. f***ing s***house.
