We can give Gonzalez the benefit of the doubt, giving him time to get used to the pace of the game, new country etc but Pennant??? I was worried when we signed him, especially the size of the fee, but give the manager his due he must have seen something that I hadn't. However, he has shown nothing to prove my first instinct wrong, at one point tonight he broke through a tackle ran towards the centre halves and had a touch that can only be described as "a joke" about 20 yards in front of him and almost to the feet of Woodgate. He isn't a Liverpool type player and never will be as long as I've got a hole in my a***. As for the team, chuck one of the kids in, after all they can't do any worse can they?? Disappointed, again

Agreed. I love Robbie as much as anyone on here but if you gave him a 2 year contract now he may think he's done the hard work already and slip backwards again. With a one year deal with an option of a second year, he'll knuckle down and continue to reap the benefits of Pako's hard work with him and give us the great striking option we all hope he can be next season and maybe beyond.
