Bob Paisley was always a good judge of a man. Seeing Terry McDermott sitting inconsolable in tears on the Wembley pitch that day was an image that stuck in the canny Geordie's mind. He thought, "There's a man that cares." Once McDermott's abilities as a player matched his passion for the game, Paisley knew it was a no-brainer and he had no doubts Macca was going to be a Liverpool legend.

There was no surprise the fans boo-ed the decision to bring off Crouch instead of Morientes. That was as bad a performance as I've ever seen from a Liverpool player at Anfield. Some of the players in the penalty shoot-out at half time looked more impressive than him. Liverpool looked inept and why can we never capitalise on a one-man advantage? City almost did a Birmingham and no-one can really say they wouldn't have deserved it.

And struggling with injuries! Added to which, if they win the Champs League and Spurs come 4th, Spurs miss out! Now that'll be worth seeing.
