Sorry to just take this one line out of your well argued and reasoned piece, Kop, mate, but I just thought I'd throw in a little observation about the GMP. My next door neighbour is a DI in a neighbouring police force and he is scathing of his Manchester counterparts. I was telling him of an incident I had to report to them once and he told me I'd wasted my time. He said, "The official recruitment policy in the GMP is, 'two arms, two legs, you're in'". He reckons they are far from the brightest tools in the box. Additionally, the chairman of my running club is now retired but was once the deputy chief constable of that force despite then having a conviction for drink driving! If he is anything to go by, then I can only say that hoping for better policing at OT is a forlorn hope indeed.

Won't reall matter though will it? Once again, the lie is half way round the world while the truth is struggling to get its boots on. There are blues, mancs and the general Scouse-hating amongst the public at large who have tried us and found us guilty already. Truth doesn't come into it.

Until we play at OT next season and there will be some who use this as an excuse to "gain revenge". And then when they come to Anfield etc etc. What a tragedy this sad sorry story came out at all. It'll do nothing to assist in developing cordial relations with our Manchester brethren.

Man's right. Equally, there are those on both sides who claim the other side is worse in order to justify increasingly t***tish behaviour on their own parts. I was on Red Cafe after our victory and the evil bile that spewed forth was overwhelming. Very few were pointing out the sportsmanship involved in applauding a badly injured player off preferring instead to concentrate on the songs to him and Neville.

I'm giving OT a miss for a few seasons. It was bad enough before but the recent actions by both sets of fans leads me to think there'll be a mighty stink next time we play there. I mean, it stinks anyway but..oh you all know what I mean.

Not to try and entirely absolve our supporters of blame but coming away from the match, we saw loads and loads of known Evertonians mobbed up walking up Lower Breck Road headed to Anfield. I'm not saying they could have got there in time to be the culprits but I'm certain it wouldn't have been just Liverpool fans involved.

The main problem, particularly second half, was the gulf between midfield and the two (sometimes one) striker(s). This meant we had no weight of numbers when the increasingly innefective Morientes in particular but also Fowler and then Cisse, had the ball. No-one rushed forward to help them despite pinging good balls forward to them most of the night. I can tell you that certainly won't happen at Anfield though and we should have enough to go on to the next round.
