    cisse

I shouldn't think it'll have that big an impact, i don't suppose we'd be "making" any money on Cisse beyond his wages.

    cisse

Good post. Its easy to post "all the best Djibs" a few hours after slagging him off, but the plain truth is that anyone who says that their immediate thoughts didn't turn to how this affected the club is lying. Nothing wrong in that.
  3. So is Phil Neville.
  4. Hates Neville doesn't he
  5. Nonsense. But aside from that Cisse would play better when he didn't have someone behind him to link play and thread balls through to him? Isn't that his strength? I thnk that's how it was set up at Auxerre. He was basically up on his own.
  6. You've lost me. Lets recap. You said Veron was a £30M failure when I said Cisse wasn't a £10m striker I said Veron's failure wasn't a lack of talent but an inability or unwillingess to adapt to the league and that Cisse just isn't worth £10M premier league or not. You then said the above but I don't know what it means.
  7. The league he plays in isn't the problem, in fact its probably a decent one for him to play in because quick strikers tend to flourish in it. The problem is he hasn't got the attributes to be a top player and doesn't seem willing to learn. He's not a £10M player for me. If he is, then someone like Henri Camara is as well.
  8. We've been playing 4-4-2 for the majority of the season. Is an old fashioned one different? He'd undoubtedly be better in a team that spent 90 minutes hitting it over the top for him to chase, but for £10M you want more than that. Basic things like ball control, composure, intelligence with the ball. If anyone gives us more than £7M they are as mad as a bucket of frogs.
  9. He didn't adapt to the league. Different argument.
  10. So disregarding the "system" argument for a moment, because a £10M player should be able to adapt to things like that. Had we paid £10M would he have been a bargain?
  11. Don't worry too much. We might get lucky, sign Jason Roberts and you can rest easy.
  12. If we haven't bought someone are they a transfer dealing? Does that mean I am one?
  13. I see. I don't think all players do need to consistently excel. Some just need to be able to perform the task asked of them. Riise does in my opinion, and then you get the goals etc on top. Steve Finnan doesn't consistently excel, but he's been a vital part of the team for the last 18/24 months.
  14. You only asked one question as far as I can see which I responded to. We're not talking about Baros or Dudek are we? What has Dudek saving a couple of pens got to do with anything? I was trying to provide examples where Riise has made attacking contributions that didn't rely on him whacking the ball, thats all. After that you've gone off on one a bit about opinions and not being less of a supporter and I have no idea where you're going with that....I've not accused you of anything - must be the heat. Take your point about the free kicks though - maybe Chelsea (and Leverkusen was it a year or two back) is a sign of things to come.
  15. How do you know we haven't sorted out any signings? I am sure in an ideal world he would like to get it sorted before the world cup, but you can't always get what you want. You don't think that Momo, Crouch, Pepe, Agger, Garcia, Alonso et al are anything to brag about? Or transfer record since Rafa came in is very good. The only notable failure who costs any sort of money being Morientes. Given all those I have listed above cost roughly the same or more as he did, 1 out of 7 is more than acceptable. Some of the cheaper players/free signings haven't worked but they are a bonus if they do. When he has spent money he has bought very very well.

  17. That isn't what you said. You said his attacking threat was limited because it was based on him whacking the ball. The suggestion being that is all he can do/does. Which is nonsense. It was his "whack" that led to the first goal in the CL final for instance. He does have limitations, as do most footballers, but the positives outweigh the negatives for me. I think he's improved massively defensively, he's only hoofs as a last resort, and his attacking contributions are often match winning. Not sure what more you would want really.
  18. That's just daft. Riise's can hit the ball hard so he's no good as an attacking full back? Was he not a threat in the FA Cup semi final when he PLACED the ball into the net?
  19. One of these?
  20. I am assuming Aurelio will be announced once his contract expires, that's usually June innit. Riise is far from average. His defending has improved a lot.
  21. he's actually quite witty, very dry, which I wasn't expecting.
  22. Although If I remember correctly Bascombe suggested at the time that only £3M or so of that was up front with the majority of the rest incentive/appearance based. Irrespective £7M seems a decent fee for Crouch now. Spurs paid the same for Jermain Defoe when he was a Championship player. Only 1 of them is likely to start for England at the world cup. The fact that he and his agent would also lose a lot of money should he ask for a move prolly comes into it as well.
  23. Thanks for the info! Great! Lets hope its not a loan!
