Looks like 'Of the nest' is at it again.. Reds lodge £10m bid? 2006-06-19 10:08 Liverpool have reportedly increased their bid for Sevilla full-back Daniel Alves to £10million. Spanish newspaper AS claim that the La Liga club's chairman Jose Maria del Nido has rejected the offer, tabled in the last 24 hours. It is the second bid made by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who recently failed with an £8million offer for the Brazilian defender. Sevilla are believed to value Alves at £12million - but the Merseysiders appear unwilling to meet that valuation. Benitez is hoping to splash a large portion of his summer transfer kitty on at least one top-class striker - and does not want an Alves transfer to eat heavily into the funds he has available. http://www.clubcall.com/index.jsp?storyID=9429 Hope he doesnt muck us about on this its becoming a saga n a half

Dunno if this is mentioned elsewhere but... Rotherham interested in Liverpool winger 19 juni 2006 Rotherham United are interested in bringing former Liverpool winger Richie Partridge to Millmoor this summer. Partridge was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season having failed to make an impression at Hillsborough. The 25-year-old had been linked with a return to the eircom League, but he is keen to make a concerted effort to make his next move in England a success. And Rotherham manager Alan Knill is the favourite to snap him up, having reportedly held talks with the former Irish under-21 winger this week. http://www.fcupdate.nl/news.php?newsID=34695

I agree Leo, i think at the end of the day it was as much down to Souness being a bad man manager and having a massive personality clash with Bellamy as it was Bellamy being disruptive. We havnt heard anything bad coming out of Blackburn about his attitude and behaviour as he has matured, recently married and is being managed well. The same will be with Rafa I'm sure, at £6m its a steal for a quality player - I'm well excited by this now.

To amuse myself I sometimes wander onto the dodgy rumours site - I know, large pinch of salt n all that. Anyways after trawling thru all the LFC related dross i came across this snippet.... "Liverpool are NOT after aimar...i can confirm this as i have very reliable sources, one thing for sure is that rafa already has a deal in place for pennant and yesterday made a £9 mil bid for brazilian wonderkid Kerlon" Apparantly this kid is the next big thing for Brazil u17 - could we have another name in the hat? Feel free to pour scorn I should know better... http://www.football-rumours.com/dodgy.htm Mind you if he did this in the prem it would turn a few heads!
