I don’t think this is correct, except in that half of the city has enjoyed the club’s success. And that isn’t nothing, of course. But I don’t see evidence of the city itself being materially improved by anything our owners have done. You could in theory say expanding the ground would bring in more tourists who would spend money in the local shops but is there any evidence that’s happened, that jobs have been created, that local businesses have done better?

You may be right, but if we are weak at right back then we will be really easy to score against and it’ll become a crisis very quickly.

Bezos, more than any other individual, has moved the economy from a market to something even worse, techno feudalism. And that change in economic system requires and precipitates a change in the political system, which (admittedly still in its early days) looks like being fascism. He has actively encouraged this change through his ownership of the Washington Post. He’s also accelerating climate change and ruthlessly exploiting his workers (for as long as he needs them, he’ll be replacing almost all of them with robots soon enough). On the positive side, he’s built an information and distribution system that could be used to power a planned economy based on fairness, which could ensure that no human being on Earth ever needs to want for anything. If he hands that system over to common ownership then I’ll take it all back.

He pays less than 1% tax on his own income. What a guy!
