Come now, the implication of “London is an appealing factor” is “it’s more appealing than other places”, and in this case the place that LFC is based; otherwise it doesn’t mean anything.
And fwiw I agree that’s likely to be true but I think it’s a smallish factor and other things are much more important.
You’re not saying he’d prefer London, but it’s naive to think he wouldn’t prefer London?
Anyway, as I say, I don’t dispute that London has some appeal but I also think it can be relatively easily overcome.
This London stuff does my head in. Man Utd never had problems attracting players, neither do City. When Chelsea were having their pick of players it was because of cash. I’m sure there’s some attraction to the capital for some players but it can be overcome by acting like a big club.
Not having a pop at esteemed posters on here but it’s an excuse that gets FSG off the hook and I don’t buy it.
And if one day I should become
A singer with a Spanish bum
Who sings for women of great virtue
I'd sing to them with a guitar
I borrowed from a coffee bar
Well, what you don't know doesn't hurt you
My name would be Antonio
And all my bridges I would burn
And when I gave them some they'd know
I'd expect something in return
I'd have to get drunk every night
And talk about virility
With some old grandmama
That might be decked out like a Christmas tree
And though pink elephants I'd see
Though I'd be drunk as I could be
Still I would sing my song to me
About the time they called me Jacquet
I’m pretty sure Bowen would gladly leave London for a Champions League club. But I’m also pretty sure he’d then feel he had made it, and wouldn’t be arsed about winning leagues and stuff.
But isn’t that the point of paying millions of pounds to three levels of Sporting Directors, that between them and their amazing data machines they should have a good chance of f***ing the right players one year before they explode?
I thought he’d be great, I still hope he will be obviously, but if we could get most of our money back on him this year I’d take it. If he’s great next season then I’ll resurface this post and call myself a t***.
I think Rio as the fourth is probably correct. If we can sell Gakpo and replace him then we’ll be in a good place. Agree that the four Pearce is taking about doesn’t look elite.
