  1. Chose spurs because they offered him more money than us, can't see anything that's happened in the last 18 months that would make us up our offer. and yeah, f*ck him. We should culture an expectation that players jump at the opportunity for join us, not expect a second chance.
  2. Yeah, John Lithgow, Clive Owen and Neeson really have no place in a thread that contains that orange tory c*nt.

Thanks. I get it now. So FFP doesn't prevent City and Chelsea doing what they do? so long as the owners keep diluting the shares? Can't be that easy surely, or they wouldn't bother with the sham commercial deals. I guess there is an upper limit of how much you can do it?

I guess it's a dumb question, because no one else has asked and I'm assume we are not all financial experts. But can someone explain to me how this works? How can someone who owns a company, and is owed money by that company, convert that debt into equity? They already own all of LFC, they can't own more of it? Isn't is basically writing off the debt? Which would mean it is the same as injecting money into the club, in which case, why is that encouraged under FFP? Is that what Mansour and Abramovich have done, but to a much bigger extent?
  5. No, we just need someone else so that we aren't relying on Suarez and Sturridge to play 180mins a week. That's assuming BR only wants one forward, but given he clearly wanted an extra forward this season, he might want two for a CL campaign.
  6. Can't see us going £25m+ on a fullback when we have other priorities (a forward seems to be #1, given Konoplyanka/Willian/Costa/HM) and so many other squad holes to fill.
  7. Alan Green has a season ticket? What's the point? How many matches could he go to when he is not working, at Anfield or elsewhere?
  8. Don't have a problem with his comments at all. Like most of what is said in the press though, there's probably a motive behind it. On the face of it though, I disagree, it is just about winning trophies. Doing it playing nice football and with bringing youth through is probably just how we maximise our chances of doing so, rather than us choosing that route because it is more worthy.
  9. I'm sure they would, but at 31 by next season, on supposedly £250k p/w, and a sizeable fee given he'll has 2 years left, I'd reckon only a few would be willing to stump up the cash. And with his injury record regressing to the mean this season after last years anomaly, there might be even less, we'd be nowhere near him even if he didn't play for the mancs.
  10. Only if it includes replacing him with someone better for less money? Surely? And even then we leave ourselves with 1 experienced FB of appropriate quality for the 1st team, and one youngster that is currently showing promise.
  11. Flanagan is a kids and as you would expect, inconsistent. The fact that you have to temper it with 'on current form' suggests that you think overall, GJ is the better player. I wouldn't be planning on going into next season, and a CL / PL charge assuming Flanagan can keep up this level, never mind assuming he can improve dramatically to reach the level of GJ at his prime.
  12. He's the best LB and the best RB at the club. We have to sign (or develop) 4 better players before he is surplus to requirements assuming our objective is to improve the squad.
  13. You see, this is the kind of thinking we should be encouraging. Moyes needs at least 7 years, at least!

This. And what Growler said. I have some big issues with FSG now and again, but this is an area that I am confident they know what they are doing. That said, from an laymans pov, I am struggling to see how a club of our size, that's clearly reduced the wage bill and squad down to the bare bones, has barely spent big since 2011, has increasingly huge commercial deals and is on TV more than any other team in the PL, can be performing at such a huge loss. Also, what is this impairment charge? I've read what google defines it as, but what is it in real terms related to LFC? Having said that, though I am not concerned about failing to meet FFP, I am concerned about FSG's willingness to invest in the squad to the level needed for us to compete in the CL and the PL next season. It doesn't look like we have a lot of bandwidth from the reports I am reading.
  15. Still don't see the point, no matter where he goes we have to negotiate a price. We seem to be doing our best to look desperate to get him off our wage bill, he's going to end up on another loan or being paid off at this rate, whereas we should have been getting at least £10m to add to our kitty.

Yeah, if the article accurate (and it's hard to know context of an article targeted at the US) but somewhere there is a failure. Either they don't trust Ayre and are running the club from a distant timezone, which is a problem (and led to the Dempsey failure apparently) or they do trust him, he is in charge, and he's failing - which is also a problem. It's not about blaming Ayre, it's about the empirical failure of the club to improve the squad.
  17. Seen talk of £25+m as well though. Would be crazy to go near that.
  18. He's out of contract, but I think still qualifies for a tribunal fee as he is under 24?
  19. Our inability to close deals really has taken any fun out of any transfer links what-so-ever.
  20. If writing off the FA cup guaranteed CL football, I'd be all over it, but it doesn't. winning games is good for confidence, and, knocking arsenal out of the cup could be disastrous for theirs. An injury can happen at any time, in any game or in training. I'd be making some changes (Agger definitely, and probably Allen somewhere), but I'd be making those anyway, a draw would be fine, we can take the extra games a lot more than arsenal can. Bring them back to Anfield, when we have Sakho, Johnson and possible Enrique and Lucas back. Would take that now.

Well it's not exactly 7 years of med school is it? I'm sure given the number of grounds in London that they can find 100 'trained' people. F*ck it, we could probably bus 100 down if it came to it.

Think you need 1 steward per 250 spectators? So, they need about 100 stewards. London has a population of what? 8 million people? Surely they can find 100 people in walking distance of Craven Cottage? It might mean they have to pay more than minimum wage, but I'm sure they could do it if they wanted.
  23. Every time discussion of BR's contract appears in the press we inevitably drop points.
  24. Appointing BR was a gamble, it might pay off, that Rafa was available made the gamble unnecessary. If the gamble pays off, though good for all of us, it will never change the fact that it was unnecessary. That it appears to those on the outside that we snubbed because of Ian Ayre left a nasty taste. That BR is doing a very good job doesn't make it any less of a gamble, and therefore it doesn't make Fanning wrong to hold hold that position back then. The fact that Ian Ayre is still in situ and doing a demonstrable poor job in backing that manager if anything justifies it.

Yeah, neither Barkley nor Wiltshere would have been risked had they not been fit, we just played very very well in both matches.
