  1. All the Brits sounded really p!ssed, all the Americans sounded sober.
  2. Yes, I think it's what BR refers to as 'resting with the ball'. Keeping the ball, preserving our energy and making a few of their run around a bit.
  3. We don't know how it's going to pan out at spurs though. They are in a better position now, than they would have been if they had sacked AVB after letting him buy all his own players, that they now had to get rid of. We have to assume that their method is to appoint a manager that fits the players they have, rather than having to have a clear out and start again. Easier said than done though, they could appoint a new manager, that has a good few initial months and then starts leaking the 'when I get my own players it will be even better line'
  4. The contrast between him and BR makes it even starker. Look at pictures of BR when he came, he looks thinner / younger and obviously more assured. Not sure it's just the teeth / weight either.
  5. When players start turning us down for Fulham or Palace, we can start giving credence to the 'London Effect' when they turn us down for Spurs, it is because they are willing to pay more money than we are.
  6. It's also to show he's wanted. I would guess he won't just be getting an extension, it will come with a substantial pay rise. When he signed the current one, he had one years experience in the PL and was a massive risk. I doubt he was offered 'Liverpool manager wages' That list a month or so ago had him at £3.25m didn't it? I think Rafa was on £5m when he was here and he was the highest paid one we had (I think) You'd think he'd be getting around that, possibly even more given inflation, though I would also expect some bonus to be in his current on if we get CL. All barring a spectacular collapse of course.
  7. Back to? He's already at one.
  8. Thing is, though he dived, he didn't need to. Vidic went clean across him and missed the ball. If Sturridge hadn't have gone down he would have been fouled. He's not got the room or the time to hurdle the challenge or go around him. He's going down, so why did he do it a fraction of a second earlier than he would have done anyway.
  9. Bricking it now. Too many are thinking it's a forgone conclusion. They will be well up for it much like we were when we were sh*t and they were good. Always felt we could beat them. Not confident at all in our defence against all them crosses and no doubt Fellini will be playing.
  10. The Peri chips are great. But FFS, it's Nandos, it's where you take the kids before / after the flicks. Not like you're going to have a romantic night out there with your Mrs. And KFC serves a purpose as well
  11. No me neither. There's probably something in the black manager thing, but I am not sure what, can't think of many black managers that deserve a chance and aren't being given one, maybe Barnes, possibly. However I can think of loads of white managers who don't deserve repeat changes but are getting them.
  12. I wouldn't even have Traore down there with Degen. Degen was so bad it is beyond belief we signed him. He didn't even look like a professional footballer, he looked like a boyband member playing in a charity match. Josemi, Kronkamp, Xavier and Champions League winner Traore all had their moments, however brief they were. Plus Aurelio was as good as anyone, if you are marking him down because of his injuries, you have to do the same to Babbel.
  13. I get that, but given some managers condition their players to finish strongly (and therefore could potentially have a dip elsewhere, it feels useless) It's the timing that is selective, doing it now when this season is slightly ahead of recent 'good' league seasons. I think in 08/09 we won like 9 of the last 10 league matches, I think there was a similar finish in 01/02, so choosing the time of comparison just before those runs start, of course it's going to skew the results, specially as we have a tough batch of matches coming up. Even if this team was just as good as those teams, all this graph tells us is the distribution of the fixtures. None of this takes away from the job BR is doing, I know he's doing a good job, but that graph doesn't tell me anything (unlike this table) but I don't think we are approaching the heights of 08/09 yet.
  14. This graph would be interesting if it had points after a complete season. As it is it's a bit cherry picking.
  15. Yes, I know a few, though usually they have a team, it is just a lower league one. I know Nuneaton Borough and Wrexham fans that follow the PL as neutrals, but due to coverage and access, probably more so than their own team.
  16. Shaka Hislop was famously intelligent He might not have been referred to as a clever player, but then he was a keeper.
  17. Wasn't a fan of the music heavy one on Friday, but the latest one was just fantastic. Remember most of that season very clearly, and was around then that I was starting to go to less matches, but I was still a a few of them. However, I seem to have no recollection of the Grimsby match.
  18. I'm sure he could be ready to be part of the squad soon, but if he's not getting games that all he might ever be. If we want him to progress to become a top class CB, he will need games, and preferably games in the English leagues.
  19. Google says Ilori is right footed. Don't think we should be planning on him being part of the squad next season, he needs to be playing regularly, he won't get that here as a squad member. The best thing we could do would be to loan him out for the next two seasons, preferably with one of those seasons in the PL.
  20. Has McCartney every proclaimed to be a Liverpool fan? Not that I think he comes out of any better given his overt links to the city, but just saying.

    FSG Watch...

It's not the first round thing that still annoys me, it's the prize money. We would have had 60% of the group stage money awarded to English clubs as the holders, but as part of being allowed in, we accepted about 10% instead. This is were David Dein's conflict of interest came about as Arsenal, who finished 3rd and would have ended up with a teeny fraction, had the most to lose. It usually divvied up with the 1st place getting the most, the 2nd place getting quite a bit less, etc ,etc. But the holders always trump the lot. And on top of that we lost quite a bit having to cancel the lucrative Asian tour we have planned, and probably had to pay to get out of our commitments. We should have raked it in that year and really kicked on.
  22. He's a Brighton fan isn't he? Or was this another one? I thought she became a manc because it was around the time they were starting to become good and she was trying to forge a career as a celebrity.
  23. This is true, think she did a film in Liverpool and the kid got into it. It also lead to Brad Pitt becoming a fan as well.
  24. Sound or kn***ead?
  25. Nah, I think he was introduced to LFC by Tom Werner, so it would have been after that season. Kim Cathrall
