Not having a go Gunga, but I've got a feeling Rafa considered his options before putting Ngog up front rather than pick his name out of a hat. I'm not trying second guess the guy cos he knows more about this than all of us put together.

Alonso is too ponderous and it WILL cost us at some point this season (almost did against Boro) 10. Masch is f***ing amazing and is what we've been missing all season I think we went with a game plan of not conceding before 60 mins and then try nick a goal in the last 30. Unfortunately, Torres going off didn't help. All in all, not the worst result or performance (considering our last 3)

Ing-er-lund supporters might subsitute Downing's name in that sentence with Barnes or Gerrard. Personally, I don't give a f*** what they think............

Agreed. He's not half as bad as some make out and is a good 4th choice for us..... saying that, if we get 3m for him then I won't shed any tears

Maybe he is but won't come out and say it publicly for fear of alienating Villa fans, who have supported him for 10+ years. He may say it AFTER he signs for us but he'd be a f***ing idiot to say it before! Contrast it to placcy and I thinks he's handling it very well. If the deal falls through then he hasn't burned his bridges and if it goes through he maintain a modicum of professionality.

It's a PR exercise designed to apply pressure on MON and to soften up the Villa fans. He's been there for over 10 years and is their captain - what did you expect him to say?! Personally, I think he's handled himself well and that kind of attitude bodes well for us.

1) We don't know that we are after Downing. 2) If Rafa wants him or Barry then he either thinks they are good enough or they are the best available/he can afford. :cliche: Trust in Rafa :cliche: Can I claim my £5?
