Bit of a non-issue debating squad numbers, but... Why isn't Skrtel given a lower number say 6. Is that reserved for midfield addition Can't help feeling irritated that Voronin has no 10. Ngog's number kind of reveals he is considered a first team player, no?

Are we really that bad in the beginning of the season? Thought we started off pretty good last season, wasn't until December it all went pear shaped. Can't remember the season before that but I'll be dammed if it wasn't something similar. All of the away games look fairly tricky. However if we grab say 7 or 9 points from first 3 games then go on and finally beat Man U, confidence will be sky high.

Since the assignment of GH we've had a whole bunch of French players at the club now. Could anyone of them be considered something of a success?

Not sure why you think we would have been better off with Friedel under GH. I for one rate Dudek higher than Friedel any day of the week (ie Dudek a few years back vs. Friedel during the same time). I actually thought Westerveld was a more than decent keeper as well, still don't think our problems during the GH era was very much down to the keepers.

Granted I've seen very little/nothing of our non-Reina keepers, but really can't see us keeping any of the ones listed for more than a couple of seasons. Pepe is only 26 - could have as much as ten more years in him and he is a marvellous talent imo. Maybe only 5 or 6 players in the world can measure up to him and I don't think any of our backups stand a chance, not now and not in the long run either.

I didn't think they were that bad... Wouldn't buy them, but they were ok. As for the text on the stripes ours does look better than "Real Madrid" on the RM ones.

I was kind of thinking in those terms as well. But why the hell would he have an Andalusian scarf on him? My immediate thought was that it would be a nice banner idea, like the Basque one for Xabi Alsonso. Maybe it could be the colours of one of his previous non-professional clubs if he played for one?

Ronaldinho is not quite a an U23 player is he? AFIAK those players can't be forced away by their clubs.
