A 442 with Gerrard and Plessis centrally could work no? However I would like to see Alonso staying so rather see him on the team sheet for tomorrow. edit: sorry didn't realize you were discussing the Gerrard-being-out scenario.

Kuyt was good paying the right-forward role from February onwards last season. Also played a similar role very well for Holland this summer. How anyone would pick Pennant ahead of him is way beyond me.

Looks very odd that list. Fabio is injured, yet no Dossena. Babel is likely to only feature in only one game, but is included. The other two olympians are not in the squad. And the "Locally trained" players aren't the best ones we've got are they? Rafa's gone mentalistic, probably.

Just quickly switched to the other game just to see one of the worst dives I've seen by an IC player. Good call by the ref there.

To be fair Holland on the whole is playing pretty poorly, Babel hasn't stood out in any way. Not worse than his striking partner at least. Close shot from Nigeria there, good save from the Dutch keeper.

I'm on Babelwatch right now. Ryan had a nice run on the Nigeria goal just now, but nothing came off it. Overall a very slow game, not a hell of lot going on. Commentators are saying the heat and humidity is getting the better off the players. Nigeria slightly edging it, but still a dull 0-0 so far (~38 mins)
