Some 'poor' choices and execution at the end but the lads are out on their feet -

We look more likely to score a klopp goal than a Slot goal, capitalising on a mistake. We don't look that clinical in the final third. They do, but they have so much more space to play into -
He's a tube and it's hard to see them winning with him in charge

This is win win for us.. United getting beat is always great Arsenal dropping points would be great Irrespective of today we need 16 pts out of 27 provided that at least one of those is against arsenal. If we get 3 against them we need 15... It's all so so good

Sobering observation made on one of the TAW shows about the extent of the PSG dominance for large parts of that game. In essence the point was that we will probably not dominate Southampton as much as PSG did to us* *really hope this ages badly -
Games like this show there's loads of good young players out there in world football This game specifically shows that psg will have no interest in Mo. Not because he's not brilliant. They're just building brilliantly with young talented wide forwards. It's stay or saudi for Mo.

Couple of champions league finals ago courtois played like that and RM walked off with the trophy and nobody bar us thought anything other than that's what real Madrid do.. Back in the trauma of the mid 90s it was a weekly nightmare to see Schmeichel have a wonder game and cantona score the single goal winner.. That's why you have the best player in the world in nets. Sometimes their brilliance is the difference just as sometimes it's the Salah type... Amazing win -

Hard not to think back to this standout performance

Genuinely don't disagree. I just think they think they can restructure without him and have balanced that against making the right back one of the highest paid players, and if Mo goes probably the highest paid. Rightly or wrongly they just don't want to do that. If we're just looking at the position I think they're right, if we're looking at the actual player I think it's 50:50 For me it's a must to keep virgil for two more years and to retain Salah for one. I think they can structure deals, or still have transfer out options for both in 24 and 12 months time. With Trent they must be thinking, how long is this deal for and how many great years do we get out of it? At the age of 26 you'd think he has 3 years of being at the very top level. But he's a lot of miles on the clock at the very top level, when he's turning 30 he'll have been doing this for 10+ years. They might not want to have an ageing club captain full back who's at a premium wage at 30 with 2 more years on the contract? Not arguing for or against any of this. Just playing out the anecdotal variables on a footy forum that I've no doubt they will be applying all manner of metrics to.. Finance, sports science, squad building etc. Can't help but think the trent boat was missed two years ago when we were in a state of football operations flux. When he was 24 we should have nailed the 5-6 year deal. Maybe we weren't set up to make that happen. Maybe he had no designs on signing that then? But at this stage, I think he goes. I think it can be a good overall life move for him. I think it's a move the club can justify to itself. I hope we get stronger and that anytime that Madrid are in the CL against us that they get nothing. Apart from that I don't care how he does footy wise in Spain, other than the general principle of wanting any move away from us to end up being, and being widely perceived as being, a bad move and a step down

I think it's as simple as the club not wanting to 're-sign' their own right back for what would be an extortionate sum of money for the position, setting all manner of unwanted precedents, allied to the probability that the player wants to do something new in his life and career. On the whole, whilst VVD is the captain and Salah is the unicorn, I also think both the boffins and the coaching staff back themselves to replace trent (horrible phrase incoming) 'in the aggregate'. With the right player fitting into the right system that now relies more on the midfield to create, score and assist (rather than holding for the fullbacks to do this), I think they reckon they can replace what Trent offers and maybe improve on some of the weaknesses.

That's how I was with the autumn Int'l breaks.. very zen and appreciating the breaks... Now that we're this close to winning it I just want it won!

what a downer of a weekend.. I'd got into the rhythm of us extending our lead by 2-3 points ever 2-3 days and the momentum was so good I just wanted it to actually be all done by now - the only thing stopping this from being over by st Paddy's day is the madness of only playing one league game in March..

I'm 50:50 that we've enough right now to bring it home!

Does this mean that even if we do win it he won't accept this for the whole of his life when finally, years from now, gasping for air, the very last act of arteta on earth will be to finally concede the 24/25 PL title to Liverpool.. And how do we get tickets to see this moment?

I wasnt sure where we'd finish, but I wasn't settling for any transition year nonsense given the players we had. To my mind last summer we had the Best keeper in the world and great backup Best centre half in the world World Cup winning midfielder in his prime Mo Salah Throw in Konate, Trent, Robbo and Bradley and that's the acting and future captain of France, current captains of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and a guy who was neck in neck with de bruyne few seasons back for creating chances and assists. We had the Hungarian captain (and their most gifted player for 50 years), Gravenberch who was spoken in the same breath as Bellingham and tchuameni, Jones the standout player when England u21 won their euros, plus the Japanese captain and Harvey.. Then we had columbia's best player, Gakpo who was one of the best Dutch players at the euros, Jota who is excellent, the enigma of Darwin plus the lad who was Italy's best player in the Euros 3 years earlier signed for next to nothing. This was, and is a team full of captains, with a world class player in goal, defence, midfield and attack, surrounded by a fantastic blend of youth and experience, brains and legs. Klopp left one heck of a setup. It's almost his defining legacy.. That he handed over a team on the boil and primed for greatness. It's the smartest thing the club did in not getting the next project manager, but now they've really got to back it up by bringing in quality to improve on quality.

We're gonna find a way. He doesn't want to leave. We want him to stay. It'll happen
