Unbelievable -
This reads to me like you've been on a call since 08.30 gathering intel and whilst it's all still fresh in your head you're telling us what you have heard will happen... ... but if I'm not mistaken, the call was completely unrelated and this is just your attempt to clear your head by being crystal clear on what this forum and its erstwhile contributors think??!!!

Elliott is so easy to happen that the fact it ain't would suggest we don't want it to and there could be any number of reasons for that. Maybe he's not a good lad in the workplace? Maybe we were happy to have him out of the dressing room? Who knows. But we haven't pushed for it and that says something.

Good interview.. Overseas lads do get a pass though on stuff that any lad from England would get if playing for us. Kelly: If you could only achieve one more thing in your career, what would it be? Florian: World Champion* *unless he means the mighty club world cup of course

Gonna be a lot of Romano over the next 48 hours if he's going to list all the players we won't sign

I'm sure the fellas upstairs are relieved to know they're retained the backing of Slot.. Henry, Werner & co were starting to panic there!

Think we need to be careful to not chase the concept of 'heavy metal football' as some sort of implicit interpretation of representing 'the Liverpool s way'. The Liverpool way is winning. Paisleys team was wonderful but could bore teams into submission. At the same time United were chasing the ghost of playing like the team of Charlton, Best and Law. The 87-89 team under Kenny broke new ground for flair, but they won. There's a West Ham way and a Tottenham style of football. Let them have it. The Liverpool way is to win with great players and excellent coaching. I don't care if Alonso is not like Klopp. I didn't care last season when we won the league under Slot. Right now the decision should be driven by who can help us the most to win now and how does this align with helping us to win over the next 3 seasons with the players we've signed and will sign. If the dice roll suggests Xabi is a better answer than Slot then roll it and heavy metal (or country and western) be damned.

He is gone. They're not extending this contract in the summer and they're not going into next season with him in his final year. It's just been rank rotten for too long. Always be thankful for the league title and how he followed Jurgen and how he conducted himself in the summer. It's often the case that the person who follows the legend has a short stint. The major issue is getting the next appointment right as otherwise it becomes united after Ferguson very quickly. But Arne will not be the manager next season and that means his authority from now to end of May is seriously undermined. It's a mess, and yes today's sloppy goals in the first half were on virgil, but it just seems as if leadership has broken down, and like it or lump it that almost always falls on the manager.

You new here !?

Lads... 100% Mo goes in the summer and it'll be for a Henderson type fee. The 24 month extension was really to secure the next 12 months at a cost to the club of around 15 million in wages over that year. He'll go for around that meaning the year hasn't cost anything really, Mo gets a move and we get to rebuild without him.

Why not strike a compromise and sign players that no one wants?

It is a bit surreal cos other than fifa changing the laws of the game like basketball meaning each team has to carry the ball across the half way line it's his job to solve the problem not just identify it. Constantly restating that he knows what the problem is but not overcoming the problem starts to reflect badly very quickly

He's just trying to bait us

They're clearly not going to extend the contract which means he's gone in the summer as he's not managing us next season without an extension. So get it done now. Either go get alonso or bring back Jurgen for a spell. Remember when we brought Kenny back and it gave everyone a lift to see that amazing smile in the big Liverpool manager coat... Think about the injection of energy that would shoot through the whole club if suddenly klopp was back. Time to put out the bat signal -
I honestly reckon this whole 'very high bar' or 'the level of player needed now is so much higher' is a load of self-aggrandising self-defeating nonsense, and a trap we've allowed ourselves to fall into. City will win major trophies with Semenyo and Guehi in their side. They didn't go looking for unicorns, they just went looking for strength in depth with high quality players who may not make all time 11s but who can make them competitive in every major game they play in. Why? Cos there are no unicorns out there. No team so beyond everyone else that no one can compete. But there are a lot of good players. We signed Mane from Southampton, Mo from Roma, as well as Ali before he became the best keeper in the world. We got Matip on a free and picked up Gini from a relegated Newcastle. We brought Robbo in from Hull. Really good, hungry, ambitious players who became a team. There's loads of good players in the world who can play for a multitude of the top teams.

well on that basis I'll bring me boots..

Breaking news. Jamie redknapp believes the reds are in pole position to secure the signing of Semenyo from Man City before the end of the transfer window. @koptalk

We absolutely need to go get a centre half now so that Joe is first reserve for fullback and 3rd reserve for centre half. We can't use Dom at fullback as we need all the midfielders we have to cover midfield and attack.
