Lucas was very poor on that first goal though. He was standing in the way of Kompany's run but actually - having looked at Kompany's position, took two steps forward to leave himself underneath the header and unable to defend it, and also left Kompany the space to run onto the ball. Our collective defending of set pieces at the moment is a problem, it's not just a single personnel thing. There's an uncertainty and nervousness there that keeps getting us into trouble.

True. And as the clip rolls on, the one person who is left looking bereft of a responsibility is Kelly: how often would Kelly practice set pieces with the first team unit? Would Johnson normally take up the position Kelly took up in a situation like that, i.e. the left side of Central defence? Perhaps that's a position Kelly takes in the reserve team set up?

Getting fourth would be great, a real concrete sign of progress, something to build on and something to bring back belief. Getting first would be so outrageously fantastically brilliant it would probably kill me so, for the sake of my family, I'm voting fourth.

Looking at that pic I posted, I can't help thinking it actually is Sakho's fault now, much that I also think he's brilliant and all that. Skrtel seems to be telling him to go back to "18" as he has "6" really - Sakho seems more focuses on the line than what's around him at that point.

Think I might agree with you there. Beating one but not the other, or going to their home grounds and showing "you can't beat us" - it's the latter that makes me feel better as I try to imagine that combined post match come down ...

It's Brendan Rodger's fault: Sakho is telling them the line to hold, Skrtel is telling them the man to mark, Kelly is watching the corner flag while Hendo is pleading something or other. Lucas has just broken out in song. But why are there four people organising the defence?
