I think given the order in which things happened - agent of player who also has to work with club tweets his major disappointment at the club refusing to let player go, tweet then deleted, new story released to say not fault of glorious Russian club (that carrier pigeon with money strapped underneath never arrived) - makes me personally believe the original tweet.

Player can't be very happy if he everything agreed, the clause met, then the club refused to honour the contract. Sounds like a nasty little club we ended up dealing with.

I don't know why we're being so keen to run our own club down, if it was a case of some Russian Oligarch showing the world what a big man he considers himself to be, then simply everybody's a loser here.

Why are we trying to buy the russian Sterling when we've a hole in central midfield even!?? The whole policy has been a bit of a debacle - though Id prefer to see us buy Kono now than not mind.

"Agent fee" maybe the quibbling point? He's that agency''s top player I believe so they are probably looking for as much as they can get out of the deal too...?

I'm disappointed missing out on Salah but I'm also bloody confused with what's happening overall; given we're already trying to find a way to accommodate four attackers into the team, why were we pursuing another when there are gaping holes elsewhere? Whatever about FSG being tight with money, who is determing what our needs and priorities are? The whole plan or policy seems c**k-eyed at the moment.

I could reconcile Willian last summer, who was stupidly priced, and Erikksen too given his reputation as a lazy player, but this Salah business is making me vertiginuous. Certainly worry, as DH said earlier, we've got a very confused fixation on "value" at the moment.

He has the third highest number of saves in the Premiership this season (after Cardiff and Norwich) - fairly ridiculous for a top four team's goalkeeper to be up there reaching that stat: our defence as a team is obviously very poor.
