  2. Surely if he puts in a transfer request, thereby foregoing a few million in loyalty payments, it's an even better indicator of his desire to play for us???
  3. Spurs were abject though, an ornamental shrub would have coped well there. I kind of agree with Benzo though that perhaps a solid pre-season will see him recover some fitness but in the last few matches he looked to be the slowest player I've ever seen in current top flight football. Additionally, Stevie may have slowed but he still can accelerate, Lucas can't. Even if all you're being asked to do is move sideways, you still need to be able to get there in time.
  4. Naw, I mean literally mobile. Lucas struggles just to turn these days, anyone running at him, runs by him, leading to Lucas dragging and fouling. He's reading of the game will certainly get him by playing weaker opposition but I'd hate to see us needing to rely on Lucas next season if Stevie was unable to play for any period.
  5. Think next season we need be resting Gerrard more so need another quality DM that can take up that responsibility. Lucas at best would be third choice I think, he's far too immobile these days to be relied upon. If he's willing to help out, down the pecking order like that, we should keep him but we definitely need a better player than him to act as backup for Gerrard in the season ahead.

  7. How does it fit with the sustained pattern of us closing deals too though? I find it very unrealistic that fans expect prospective players, or more pertinently their agents, not to look at us (specifically at the time - not in Europe, on a low ebb) as a tool to get a better deal for their player: e.g. you put Costa in that list earlier, a player who had no interest in coming here at the time. You've also put players that clubs refused to sell, to anyone. And ignored how we sealed Mignolet very early, etc. I think the pattern is the same pattern any team experiences that isn't standing in a successful position and/or isn't in a "Man CIty" type mindset.
  8. You'd think we never bought a player reading that, nevermind capturing one of the best players in the world currently.

  10. If our CBs spent the entire season standing 7 yards short of the half way line, it's no wonder we conceded as many as we did...
  11. Same here, thought Paez did very well.

  14. I got tickets on the basis of if we did win the league it would be a hell of a party. Not so pushed about the whole now though, have to admit!

  17. Just really hope we don't have to play Lucas next week, looked horribly off the pace and struggled to keep up with what was happening around him. Think that added a lot to Johnson playing poorly too.
  18. Jamie Redknapp is brillant there
  19. Yeah I think we'll miss him against Chelsea; having a player who is snapping at their players' ankles one minute, then popping free at the edge of the box the next, has really helped us stretch and unsettle teams. I'm not sure Allen can be that mobile and certainly Lucas can't so we will be missing one important element of our successful run in that game.

  24. "support" is a bit strong of a word there, "begrudge them the win" is at the furthest border I'm willing to travel to. Though, f*** it, even that's too far right now. I want Utd back in their box, humiliated, and assume we'll beat City and they'll drop points elsewhere. Supporting Utd is unholy, anathema, an utter debasement of a Liverpool entrenched being...
  25. Would like to see that too, Agger's just not the player he once was, hardly moves these days.
