  1. Martinez may be a t***, but he's good. Mo just sat him on his a*** and dinked it past him. Great finish.
  2. Statement win that. Maybe the first full 90 to show that we fully get Slot's theories of how to play and just go out and do them on the pitch. No half time changes to sort things out, no subs coming on not clear what's expected. True of the fans too, we've moved from respectful appreciation to ful throated support. Loving it.

  5. He's in that elite class of players who, when you still need something out of the game, you don't take off, no matter how poor or anonymous he may seem. Notwithstanding the other team always needing more than one player keeping an eye on him, he is still likely to produce a piece of magic like that yesterday. See also Dalglish, so absolutely up there with the Gods
  6. I suspect the 4 he lost were all in the first half as well. Handled Mitoma really well second half, although never comfortably. Saw him off eventually.
  7. Bit of a Curate's Egg i would say. First half it felt like he was giving them a foul for any challenge when theyvwent to ground, but compensated later by giving us a few. Much more robust 2nd half even though our intensity was higher, and actually awarded Mo 3 fouls, which is usually his quota for about 10 games. But not great on the keepers time wasting and their rather obvious s***housery. The lad going down for no obvious reason as we had a spell just before half time and were rushing to take a quick throw in was particularly egregious.
  8. Not one of my go to topics, but after all the complaints about commentators and pundits here, surprised no-one has mentioned how s***e Mowbray was on MotD last night. Taking Colwill's shocked look as clear evidence that it was not a pen, he could barely bring himself to admit it was when presented with the evidence of Jones being kicked. I admit to swearing at the TV at that point. He seemed to want to big up Chelsea (and even Palmer) more than was justified, although I can't deny they played well (Chelsea, not Palmer. He was outplayed by Jones yesrerday) The stats board that was shown titled "Chelsea Impressive" jarred a little. Overall, though, I thought the post match punditry was fair and Walcott pretty good - although I was busy looking for bad blood between Murphy and Rafa, Murphy has said some pretty snide stuff about him before now.

  11. Hitler? (I know the whole stayed with his Siste/stood on the Kop/worked at the Adelphi thing has been shown as almost certainly apocryphal, its not been categorically refuted has it? Makes you think, eh?) Anyway, in response to the quoted post that Stephen French bloke making a strong case for inclusion
  12. Was excellent last night

    Welcome VvD

Yes, quietly magnificent tonight. Clearly fancies a marauding goal some time soon, seemed slightly put out at having to provve to the mere mortals on their team that they had no chance of beating him. Bit of pace at one time that was straight out of 2019/20 .
  14. Wasn't close enough to him as they countered, and it was a good, fast pass which didn't allow him to cut off any angles. Maybe a consequence of going 3 at the back, meant he didnt start wide enough? (and Hudson-Odoi was savvy enough to take advantage by staying wide)
  15. Tbh, for all his problems with Hudson-Odoi, I thought Bradley was ok when joining the attack on that side, a bit more agression than we'd seen before.
  16. Oh I don't disagree, in fact he had a host of options to replace players who weren't offering anything, and we looked a mess in that last 20 minutes; but given that those who came on played as awfully as those who came off (and those who stayed on) I don't have any confidence that an alternative switch would have made much of a difference.
  17. Difficult to see what changes Slot could have made to change that yesteday when so many players - - as in all of them bar Gravenberch and Ali - were so dramatically below their best in even the most basic footballing capabilities. Probably Trent's worst passing display in a Liverpool shirt, Jota unable to conntrol a ball etc. Forest played really well, but our insipidity emboldened them and further confounded us.

  19. Shape reminded me of Mo's goal vs Newcastle a few years back - courtesy of a ridiculously sexy backheel by Bobby - but with more passes. Lovely stuff, not given enough credit on MotD
  20. Players other than the Full Backs can take throw-ins now. Radical, I know
  21. Doesn't a Spanish release fee technically have to be paid by the player themselves? Buying out their contract? Of course it comes from us, probably in the signing on fee, but they are supposed to initiate it.

    2024/25 Season

Used to visit Greenville SC, took a drive up to Asheville once - very strong Lake district vibe to the journey, I felt. Very nice trip

  25. Didn't he also organise some really good stuff for a local school? Seems a decent guy, clearly well liked.
