That's no excuse for being s**** in the hour that you are on the pitch, he's still getting to start and playing an hour, which from his performances I would say he doesn't deserve...

The Metro laid the blame square at the feet of Carson. Which is b******s, it was definitely Terry's ball to clear. The fact that he was so desperately trying to shield the ball from the German player makes it even more incredible - if you know the player is coming, the goalie may not make it, so why not just put your foot through it? Carra wouldn't have hesitated!

No I guess not, it's just that he doesn't seem to get a mention on here as much as some of our other greats. Wonder where he would be in an all time Liverpool strikers list? I know personally I'd have him above Owen and Fowler.

Good article on him here: http://www.football365.co.uk/john_nicholso...4521648,00.html Was a favourite of mine, but have to agree, with the author, he does seem to be one of our forgotten heroes...

Given the control freak that Rafa is, I think it's unlikely in the extreme that Rafa buys players he hasn't fully researched. We've read enough about Rafa's methods to know that is not the case.

Yes, but the only cases where people are tested for recreational drugs are in jobs where it's use could affect your ability to perform your job - for example, airline pilots. I wouldn't take too kindly to my employer introducing mandatory drug testing for my office job. The purpose of drug testing in sport is to prevent cheating by the use of performance-enhancing drugs. I don't think anyone could argue that a joint would be performance enhancing.

That's why I said if he improves further As we agreed, he's a great sub for now, but if by the end of the season, he's beating players for fun and scoring lots of goals, either on the wing, or as a withdrawn striker, then maybe he could squeeze out one of the others. After all, no player's place in the team is sacrosanct.

But he can still be invaluable coming off the bench for the last half an hour. If he improves further, then he pushes out Reira/Keane/Kuyt. either way we win. I'd take Babel or Bena'feckin'noon every day of the week and twice on Saturdays.

BBC website refers him to as a wonderkid...
