that's basically been his problem all through his career. He's only ever looked good in brief spells and the spells in which has actually been good have been much briefer. May be his short time at Liverpoool has given him the boost he needed to look and be good - in the Bundesliga - for slightly longer spells.

I think the rule is that no investor, foreign or otherwise, is allowed to own more than 50%. The majority must be owned by the club. There have recently been calls from other Bundesliga clubs - notably the Dortmund chairman - for the German FA to look into Dietmar Hopp's invlovement at Hoffenheim, claiming he is breaking the so-called 50% + 1 rule.

Totally agree. This would do so much to cut out time-wasting and the nonsensical idea of kicking the ball out of play because some soft get's rolling around on the ground.

always a possibility with Germany, of course, but they'd have to stifle Spain as effectively as the Italians did. They do have a good record in stoppiing superior teams from playing, but to do that with this team, it would probably mean playing Ballack in a more defesive role rather than further forward where he was for the Portugal game. And that was the only game they've looked really dangerous in. Still wouldn't write them off by any means, but Spain look to have too much skill for the Germans to able to kill it over a full game. At least, I hope so.....

All the game, the German commentator was was trying to make out Fandel was the best man on the park - letting the game flow, not being conned by dives, etc. He also attempted to imply that Luca Toni's lack of goals was due to him not getting the same standard of sevice as he is used to at Bayern Clueless idiot

the tournament's got a very familiar look to it at the moment. Germany will find themselves in the final despite a poor group-stage performance. I doubt Croatia will beat them again. The Turks definitely won't - though they are more likely to kick the crap out of them than the Croats if they lose.

I agree it's a possibility, though it would be the most depressing end imaginable to a tournament that has been really good so far. And there's plenty of public who don't want it

Agree with that apart from the play acting. The slow motion reply showed he didn't hit him in the face, but the shove was very genuine. Schweinsteiger was a complete tool for doing it and got what he deserved. If it had happened the other way round, the Germans would be bying for blood now.

Apart from standing in the right place twice, I can't remember much of note that Podolski actually did. Torres was way better. - not that I'm biased or anything....
