  1. Think I'm right in saying he's got 2 yers left on his contract this summer, so he's going to need to sign one or be transferred. Not heard anything to suggest he won't sign - will it be straightforward?
  2. Cracking game that one, the first 3-3 against the Mancs. My first game against the Mancs and came out hating them that day. Up until then it had always been Everton I hated but that was the turning point. "McMahon, oh wow wow wow that is a belter - and they won't catch Liverpool now" - Clive Tyldsley Radio City "McMahon, easily beats duxbury, runs towards goal, shoots - wha a goal by Steve McMahon" - Alan Green Radio 2 Belting game and cracking atmosphere.
  3. One of my favourite ever goals and commentariesis that 2nd Barnes goal v QPR - my first game standing in the Kop with my mates. Also inspiration for my username! Another one I like "45 minutes of fantasy football. Houghton started it, Aldridge was often on the end of it and Peter Beardsley was just out of this world"
  4. I was in the pen behind the goal in Leppings Lane end, 15 at the time and with about 6 mates. We got in the ground for about 2.20 and even then it felt like something was wrong. We loved being in the centre of the KOP with all the atmosphere and pushing and shoving but on this day it didn't feel right. Half of us climbed over a fence to get into the left hand pen which was really empty but the atmosphere was s*** there. After about 10 minutes we decided to go back into the central pen to rejoin the other half who had stayed. When we got to the fence they were half way up to join us so we stayed where we were. Very sheltered in that pen, didn't have a clue how serious it was and that people had died until we got outside the ground. A lad down my road died (Kevin Williams) who was the same age as me. That's one of the things that really hits me when I look at the list of names and ages of the 96, that his life stopped in it's tracks whilst mine carried on.
  5. Found it a bit rich Souness trying to tell everyone how Liverpool should be defending set pieces. Under his managership we looked like conceding every time a ball was sent into the box.
  6. My understanding is that Ian Ayres who has come in as commercial director from Total Sports Asia will become the new CEO and replace Parry. Not concrete but have heard as much from a couple of people who have done business with him.
  7. best free kick ever for me was johny metgod in the 80's for forrest
  8. Think this is a really important point actually, and one they might not have considered.
  9. Both out on loan for ages - officially still Liverpool players
  10. now that we have hit July 1st? It's been a long 5 years with those 2.
  11. Ah another Fry and Laurie fan. Soupy twist!!!
  12. He's going to be our manager one day isn't he?
  13. Perhaps Riise asked Bellamy to teach him how to putt from the rough.
  14. Of course he did - it would be rude not to.
  15. Think I saw this one a few weeks ago. Look out for Venison's potential leg breaking challenge which gets dismissed as a bit of over enthuiasm from a young lad. Changed days indeed!
  16. Just been to the Littlewoods Pools website to read the full report - apparently Notts County have been the most stressful team to support over the last 20 years, with Portsmouth the most stressful current Premiership club. Can't believe we're dead last - not much weighting given to Penalty shoot outs in major finals then!!!
  17. Henry to Liverpool now being reported as a "rumour" on Five Live.
  18. But then you've got the volley away at Villa to complete his hatrick - left foot and the famous goal against Watford at Anfield when Kenny put him through - left foot Not to mention the equaliser in the same FA Cup Final - left foot.
  19. Not having this. Just looked at 30 of Rushie's goals on the 501 Goals DVD. He scored 16 with his left foot and 14 with his right. Less sure than I was but I still say he was mainly left footed.
  20. Glad you agree. Thought I was going mad when they said he was right footed - these are both lads who have followed the reds for 25 years plus.
  21. That's what I thought. One thing that always puzzled me though is why did he take the penalty against Roma in 84 with his right foot?
  22. I have to admit I always thought he was left footed till I was chatting with some other reds today who reckoned he was right footed. Is this true?
  23. Did anyone else hear the chap on radio Merseyside saying that he had heard that we had made tentative enquiries for Henry and the rumour was that this whole injury business was Wenger showing him who's boss?
  24. I'm right with you. C'mon Chelsea.
  25. I queued up at 11am for the West Ham game that season and gates opened up at 1pm. That season was a watershed for attendances - used to be a lot of games around 38,000 mark until then
