This is such a b****x point. Of course it matters what we pay for a player as it affects what other players we can buy, affordability of a new stadium all of which is ultimately paid for by the fans in ticket prices, merchandising and tv subscriptions. Do you not resent the £18m that we spent on Diouf et al in 2002?

I thought all of the larger national FA's paid wages now already for players injured on national duty. This case I think is to cover off those nations that can't afford it.

Stevie saying in that article that he'd rather win one title with Liverpool than loads with another club is tremendous stuff. That has truly drawn a line under the whole business for me and I now view him with the same esteem as our other great captains. Absolutely made my day that!

Thought last night was a farce - they should have retired the whole competition after last year, not just the trophy.

As Wenger said it's just a cup that anyone can win and it's league position that counts. Other than those comments I would have been wanting the a*** to win last night.

Couldn't agree more with that. Had we not won our previous 4 European Cups I'm convinced that we wouldn't have won last year against Milan. I think it's psychological that because you are playing for Liverpool the standards are higher. History can also work against you though and the burden of not winning for so long (a la Newcastle) makes it harder to win that first one.

Have this horrible name West Ham's name is on cup. I'm hearing all the pundits say we should win 2 or 3 nil, there's West Ham's cup tradition and Pardew did us in that cup semi in 90 with Palace (always thought that was a watershed for us).

Maybe Morientes isn't getting in the right positions. Seems like Crouch has missed a ton of headers in good positions this season. -
Spoke to someone at the club shop today and they said they will get the programmes in stock if we win. Don't have any at the moment though.
