Mario handles this role well and will not only take the pressure off the young lads, but will give the young lads a" big bully protector" on those cold nights against the teams who will kick you for fun and try to roughhouse you out of your game. I'm not concerned about them making money but competing for league titles. Hiring Bobby Valentine was a sham. His reputation as a manager is dreadful and his handling of players has been awful. He was a disaster waiting to happen but they still hired him. They have also stopped spending money on that club and their "moneyball " strategy is making them more like the small market Oakland A's than the big money market Boston Red Sox.

I can accept their ignorance in English football, but as I watch the continuing explosion of their Boston Red Sox, I have serious doubts if they know f**k all about anything!

Me since 1965 and sadly, I agree. I also believe that Roberto DiMatteo at Chelsea may be let go as they hire Pep Guardiola. I believe He would be an excellent manager at Liverpool I also believe Rafa would do a fantastic job but there is a lot of baggage with that appointment. Only way it would be Arbeloa,IMO, is if Kelly gets moved into CB and they need cover at both FB positions.

I love the Geordies! They give us Andy Carroll (slight fee involved), and then save us from Marveaux. Next they will be inquiring about Poulsen, Jovanivich, and Cole. Get in!

Finnan and Arbeloa were both consistant and above average. I think we will have a new left fb with Robinson as cover and Johnson will play on the right with Kelly (when healthy) as cover. Yesterday Flannigan showed he still needs some experience to be a day in day out player. I'm waiting for Kelly to prove he can stay healthy (worried he is similar to Agger). Also would like to see Kelly in his natural cb position for a game or two although he plays very well at right fb.

Love his passion! He forces the players around him to elevate their game or face his wrath. He is going to broaden Andy Carroll's game. When we get a proper left sided winger who can control the ball and put an effective cross in the box, defenders will go mental worrying about a header from Carroll, or a knock down to Suarez, Gerrard, Raul,and hopefully Charlie Adams! When King Kenny gets in "his" type of "pass and move players", we will be contending for many trophies. After hicks, gillette, and woy, I feel like I have escaped Dartmoor/Bedlam, and am once again living a privileged life! It is painful having to wait for Suarez's next appearance! How good is that?
