The additional money we made will be going to RBS and those two sh*ts that own this club are laughing to the bank. Until they sell this club, we will be heading on a downward trend. So if I have read this thread right: We are s**t, we are skint, we would be better if we stood pat with last year's team. All who left wanted to go so we had to sell them and either got great return (Alonso), poor return, (Arbeloa), or shot ourselves in the a***. We must move Gerrard back to midfield, We should never break up the Torres/Gerrard partnership. Lucas is worse than s**t, Lucas is a diamond in the rough waiting to emerge (in some minds will he emerge)? Hence he is is not a caterpiiler because then it would be certain he would become a butterfly! Kipling states we "had" to sell Alonso for this team to move forward while others claim we committed "football suicide" by selling Alonso (Reina's stand also). Rafa is being stymied by G&H, again! Rafa was lied to, and as in his past positions, may just up and quit! The same argument about Liverpool being better without Alonso may be used concerning Rafa? Rafa is the one yelling "skint" so he can outfox other teams and get the players we want on the cheap. Have faith the transfer window isn't over? "We are not buying another player." Ok, maybe a back-up CB. We haven't a first team left midfield player. We have three first team midfield players. The only good thing about the acquisition of Alberto Aquilani, is Michelle Q. Alberto is always injured. Alberto is more of an offensive threat than Alonso and his style will change our team style. We are going to play like Arsenal! Our left fullback position was identified as a main weakness and now is a strength? Did I mention that all of our arses are sore as G&H continually have their way with us? We are weaker than last seaon! We are stronger than last season! We may fight to be in the top four! We will win the league! We will get relegated! And finally, there is a bit of "uncertainty" surrounding our team! ( I am sure I will be censored for using the word "our" in front of team by the great American benefactors G&H, who, I am told, only believe it is "their" financial cow.) You know, my a*** is kinda getting sore! As always, we will travel this season together! Some more positive than others, but we all have one thought 19!

My post was only in response to what Bliki posted about our reserves looking anemic. My point was he left out some quality players that made it look better. I never said it was as good or better than ManU or Chelsea's bench, hence I added we needed another CB, holding midfielder and first class player upfront. I think we have about sixteen really quality players but have a few holes and are extremely thin in certain spots. I do have worries. I still believe we have significant money left over from Xabi's sale but I am just afraid that the owners may keep some for debt or there aren't quality players out there right now for a reasonable transfer fee.

Sort of misleading. Agger/Skrtel/Carragher: only two of those three are going to play so one must be on the bench. If you have Lucas playing then Aquilani(if ever healthy) must be on the bench. I am assuming you are playing Yossi at left midfield and that is why Riera is on your bench. To me subs look like: Cavielieri, Skrtel, Degen, Voronin, Aquilani, Yossi (Riera starting), Dossena, Babel, Ngog, Plessis, Kelly. Spearing. It looks alot better like that but still could upgraded with a holding midfielder, CB, and one quality signing up front. Don't know if any of those will happen but we should still have a few quid left to spend.

I think this is a win-win! When we need offense he can overlap Kuyt and when we need defense he can overlap Kuyt!

I'd be concerned about Eto'o. He would want massive wages and from the times I have seen him play against physical sides, he has not been very effective. I'd much rather have Tevez who has a proven record in the league and who (unfortunately for us) has scored some big goals on a part time basis for ManUre. He can also play the second striker, wide right, or even wide left if necessary. I agree with Knox about the center back. I want one with, size, speed, and aerial ability which is like wanting another Torres or Gerrard. A young Rio Ferdinand, a young Sol Campbell, or a young Sami Hyypia woud do. That would solidify us both defensivily and in the opponents six yard box. Throw in David Silve, Glen Johnson, and let Rafa have some faith in some of our young reserves, and I believe we could then compete for all trophies. Rafa can sell who he needs and if money is tight, Barry would be my last buy, if at all. If we got Tevez and Silva, Gerrard could go back and spell Mascheano and Alonso, if needed, and we would be protected in that position. Spearsing would be in the spot vacated by Lucas, if he leaves.

Just basing it on doing the double over ManU and Chelsea! If they are the other two "top sides", and we've played a great deal of the year without a healthy Torres, well probably not "carried away" although there is room for debate!

Sir Alex's biggest problem today was HIS "rotation." He gave a "well needed rest" to Giggs, Scholes and Berbatov(?), yet not one pundit questioned "his" rotation. If that were Rafa, and he sat key starters, the pundits (and a certain percentage of our "supporters"), would have buried Rafa. Of course we didn't have Alonso and Arbeloa (for different reasons), but put a 4-1 beating on the Mancs at Old Trafford anyway. Rafa has made some mistakes and our players have to take some of the responsibility for many of our home draws, but when Torres and Gerrard are healthy, we are the best side in this league.
