  1. That's more like it! Glad I didn't call you a stupid manc t*** in the ref thread now!
  2. so in summary then you think that the ours were definitely bokings, (including Reina, who was hardly dawdling to any great extent) whereas the ref only 'might' have got it wrong not giving Thuram even a yellow, never the mind the straight red he deserved, for the elbow on Bellamy? Or Marquez getting nothing for the wildest challenge of the night and instead the ref demanding that Arebeloa got up?

    Alves

Don't think any of us can say that with absolute certainty yet, not just because we don't actually now whether Hicks and Gillett are going to give us big money (we assume and hope so, but nothing more than that) but also because even if they do then it might be that we have to prioritise other areas (e.g. Centre Forward) which won't leave enough for Alves. Lot of unknowns here, whichever way you look at it (and that is without even mentioning that the Hicks and Gillett deal isn;t actually completed yet - after the Dubai saga I'll wait until it is done and dusted before spending the money).
  4. Fair enough mate. I must have missed the delights of that thread, but I can imagine!

  7. My point is that it is hardly comprehensive in the way that it takes pervious experience and qualifications into account - more a cursory attempt than anything else. As for whether or not teachers are underpaid, I think that as with most public sector workers the pay doesn't truly reflect the level of work that is done. Doesn't massively bother me as there are far more important things than money to me and if I wanted to earn vastly more then I'd leave the profession. I don't want to because I've got job satisfaction, despite the s*** parts of it. Love the way you say that you aren't getting back into 'the teachers pay thing' and then make a fantastically sweeping statement as a way of closing the debate. So I'll make my own sweeping, closing statement then. Teachers are underpaid for what they do, but probably not as much as nurses and not enough to make me want to leave the profession given that I can still maintain a decent standard of living.
  8. Not interested in his reaction. Just glad to see that Carra isn't afraid to put a c*** like him in his place. None of this walking on eggshells s**** that everyone else seems to go in for around the 'knight of the realm'. And given that here is a man who is so arrogant and self-obsessed that he refuses to speak to the national broadcaster because of the supposed slights they have (in his gin-addled mind) made against him then i would actaully say that yes, he probably didn't enjoy being spoken to like that. Sure the result cheered him up like and Carra, being a winner as well, will know that on this occasion the c*** had the last laugh. Even so, good on Carra - not least for the fact that it has provoked a couple of our resident mancs to go to such great lengths to tell us that they aren't bothered. Good to know that even in victory there is still a part of you that has a lingering sense of inferiority. Why else spend so much time on here?
  9. Utter, utter b******s, especially the bit about Alonso. Anyone, run along. I see there are any number of other posters pointing out what s**** you are talking so you can carry on the argument with them.
  10. 'Stamp' That would be the mistimed tackle, for which he was rightly booked? Which is precisely the point isn't it? It is the kind of thing Scholes does regularly, albeit in a more sly and snidey manner, and gets away with. Carra didn't and I've no complaints. Scholes was sneakily leaving his foot in all afternoon and wasn't even spoken to. The fact that people know he escapes clear yellows is utterly irrelevant. Just give him what he deserves.
  11. I've already stated clearly that I think the ref got most things right, including the Neville booking. If I started having that argument with them then it would only starve you of the attention that you so clearly crave, given that you've spent so much of your time post match on here (something I never understand, whether it is our fans on your sites or vice versa).
  12. I can only speak for myself and say that I haven't been whinging about Neville not being sent off. A booking was correct. You are the one f***ing moaning about a tackle from Carra that he also got booked for. I don't have a problem with that booking either cos if you go in like that and catch the player then you expect it. Sanctimonious, self-righteous b******s like 'Rooney played the ball, Carragher played the man' is what pisses me off. It was a mistimed tackle. End of story. The ref called it right, as he did most stuff to be fair. Sort out the likes of Scholes in your own side before having a pop at ours - and I'm not talking about his laughable 'punch', more the 12 years of persistent fouls, stamps and snidey rakes that he has got away with. And I've seen the replay of the the saha incident. I still don't. think it was a penalty. And spare us the 'you sousers' complaining about the ref stuff when you've got the best in the business at that sat in your dugout, the blotchy faced t***. He was even having a go at half-time, preusmably over time added on. I can only assume that he doesn't know the meaning of the word 'irony' - either that or he was trying his usual intimidation tactics which Carra quickly picked up on and put him in his place.
  13. I don't doubt that Gonzalez is quick, but what I haven't seen much evidence of is an ability to run at pace with the ball (which was one of Cisse's many problems). His first touch may be better, but I haven't seen much to suggest that his technique is good enough to enable him to carry the ball at space when closely marked - and lets face it, that is waht is important when we talk about players having pace. It was what made McManaman so dangeorus, even though is a simple sprint race there were probably plenty quicker. But he's young and new here, has struggled with injuries and works hard so he definitely deserves more time.
  14. Paul Wilson in the Observer just says that they were lucky to win but that we didn't create anything other than Crouch's chance at the end and a shot from JAR (though he does then mention Bellamy squaring it too far ahead of Kuyt in the first half). Doesn't mention the good chances at the start of the second half for Gerrard and Bellamy. He gave Carra the man of the match but slagged him off for the tackle on Rooney. Positively gushing by his usual standards, though he evens it up by having a sly go at Gerrard for the Sheffield Utd pen last week in his column.
  15. I hope Carragher did do Rooney deliberately. As it was, fat boy is actually the first to go in with his studs up and it could easily have happened the other way around. 'Rooney goes for for the ball, Carragher goes for the man' my a***. Carra got booked so the Mancs have nothing to whinge about. And are you seriously saying that Rooney at that point WASN'T wasting time by kicking the ball away. How anyone can say that the Agger/Saha incident is a clear penalty is a complete joke.
  16. Fair enough, but they all count. It would have been useful if someone had filled their boots against some of the s**** that we have dropped points to this season - both Blackburn games, Everton and Portsmouth at home, Sheffield Utd and Newcastle away. Nobody has really done that this season for various reasons, whereas both Gerrard and Garcia could have been candidates in the past. The way we are set up at the moment, and with the kind of strikers we have, it is really important that the midfield chip in with their share but it doesn't quite seem to be working out just at the moment. Agree with what others have said about us not flooding the box with runs from deep - something that, with sporadic exceptions, I don't think we've done well enough for years.
  17. Assumed we are still talking about teachers and not nurses there? Depending on your criteria, teachers don't get a bad wage - enough to live on in the North West at any rate. I certainly agree that nurses deserve a pay hike before teachers. A teacher's wage does start to look s*** when you consider the true workload and hours that are put in, and compare it to other jobs. In answer to the poster who asked before why teachers don't just work sensible hours and refuse to do anything that would take them beyond that, there are probably a few factors. One is certainly that, in the short term at least, it will tend to be the kids who lose out - so most people just bite the bullett and get on with it. I know that there is an argument to say that making a stand and forcing the 'powers that be' to address workload issues would ultimately drive up standards and be to the benefit of the kids but this brings you on to another consideration - the role of Unions in teaching. To be honest, in my experience, they are fairly powerless. Most schools will have 3 or even 4 different unions represented on their staff so their is no cohesion, no unity of values or approach. They lost control years ago in terms of addressing workload issues. I'm still a member and always will be, but like in many professions the unions just don't have the power they once did (sadly, in my opinion). Don't know what the situation is in nursing union-wise, but it is certainly an issue in teaching.
  18. For the overwhleming majority it is, regardless of level of qualification.

    Rafa

Not being funny, but did you actually see the game? Serious question. Anyone who I've spoken to who saw/was at the game found it a strange substitution as he was involved in pretty much all of our best stuff going forward and was giving Vidic nightmares. If he was being saved for Tuesday then fair enough, but to claim that he wasn't effective is bizarre. Thye would have been made up to see him go off, as the post that started this thread confirms. As was Aurelio, I thought. So much more comfortable on the ball, and looks so much more of a natural footballer, than any of our other current options down the left. If we could get him fit, I'd give him a run.
  20. Disgaree with the first two points. Scholes is a dirty cheating t*** and I am sick of hearing for years how 'he just isn't very good at tackling'. He is a snidey little manc c*** who goes out to catch people knowing that he'll get away with it. Should have been off long, long before he was for persistent foul play. Swinging a punch = off, whether it connects or not and I'm astonished that anyone is suggesting otherwise. Just because he has the PFA do his deals for him and generally shuns the spotlight doesn't mean that he isn't a horrible little c*** out on the pitch. Can we nail the myth that he is anything but that, once for and all now please? Those penalties do get given, but wrongly so. I don't think you can claim that we were 'lucky' that the ref didn't give a s*** decision. Rooney and Neville could both have been booked for kicking the ball away. There have been far, far worse referees this season though.
  21. He's a cracking player. He's only going to get better. He didn't have a good game yesterday. That about sum it up?
  22. Owen is one of his best mates isn't he? Heskey? Even someone like Jitmanen maybe? To be honest he's probably just talking generally about peole who don't come to close to matching his passion for the club, the likes of Diouff and Cheyrou.
