I was made up when we signed him. I thought we were getting a player on the brink of becoming world class. Every game since I was waiting and hoping for him to show up. In the summer I had hoped the change in manager would help bring out his talent. Yesterday it finally dawned on me that he isn't going to make it with us. As Barnsey wrote, he doesn't seem to have the hunger. Someone wrote on twitter that Liverpool used to sign players for 30-40 million and made them look like 100 million players. Now Liverpool sign players for 100 million and make them look like 30-40 million players.

Big Wayne of this parish made a very good point on Twitter, replying to a City fan who claimed that spending rules should be redundant and that clubs should be free to spend however much their owners choose to put in. He said that if clubs were free to do what they wanted, Liverpool and Utd would negotiate their own TV deals, and would consequently be so far ahead of the rest financially the league would be dead forever as a competition as it would effectively be a two-team league.

Didn't watch the game, but for all his talent, he seems to be stuck in limbo: he doesn't have the discipline or work ethic to play in midfield, and he isn't good enough defensively to be a right back for a top team, certainly not without someone like prime Fabinho covering for him.

We should absolutely look to extend his contract for another year at the least. It is not only the high level of performances week in week out, but also the positive effect he has on the players around him, especially his CB partner.

So it does look like it will be an external appointment.
