  2. I agree with that and it was the thing that put me off Houllier most during his final season with us. His post-match interviews became cringeworthy. Rafa's post-match interviews are generally fine i.m.o.

  4. I see I almost got that right then (he didn't even last a couple of days)
  5. Very constructive response.
  6. Wrong. While football is unquestionably a business, it is totally totally different to the type of business that is implied in your scenario. What business has cameras trained on the employees performing their duties twice a week beamed to millions around the world ? What business is subject to the media glare that a club like Liverpool is subject to ? What business must offer approx £100k per week to attract the top performing employees ? What business has profit as secondary to winning top awards ? The pressures of running a football club like Liverpool are so far removed from a profit driven business is just so vastly different that I feel debating it has no merit.
  7. You're so right...........the difference between running a football club and running, say, a sandwich franchise are just poles apart, yet people seem to think that comparisons merit discussion.
  8. Arsenal's downfall could be their weakness at the back from set pieces. We caused them a few problems there today, and given that this is the area where many of the weaker Premiership teams rely on for their goals, it could cost them points and probably to the Mancs benefit in the long run. As for us, I'm still trying to get my head round that we have rested Torres when fit, and played him when unfit. If he's going to be out for a few games, I'd just love to see Rafa try Crouch & Benayoun as a front 2 for two or three games. Kuyt & Voronin have had chances, let's see if something else will work.
  9. If you look closely enough, I think you'll find a lot of positive posts around too.....far from all doom & gloom mate.
  10. chabby=chunk=cally77 ignore him, he'll be banned again in a couple of days anyway.
  11. The definition of confidence in the manager
  12. Was going to buy it. Don't think I'll bother now if they've stooped to those depths. . . . . .
  13. The 2010 Budweiser League Cup Final from Giant's Stadium, NYC
  14. Reina Finnan, Carra, Agger, Arbeloa Gerrard, Masch, Alonso, Babel Yossi Torres
  15. If Torres is not fit next Sunday, I hope he plays Crouch & Benayoun up front. After tonight , I'm also fearful of what Arsenal's pace could do to us at the back.
  16. I think if Babel had come into a team that was brimful of confidence and playing good attacking football consistently, then we would see him really flourish. Same can be said of Yossi. Unfortunately, our football recently has been too pedestrian and playing with hope rather than confidence.
  17. He was the only one who started the game that was actually trying to do something positive to break down the opposition. Played a few nice one twos in and around their box. 1. Gerrard 2. Reina Struggling after that, but Babel would just about make 3rd. Riise & Carra did ok, but no better. Finnan, Hyypia, Masch, Pennant (oh dear!), Kuyt & Voronin were awful.
  18. is dead right ('cept for Derby County).
  19. The number of passes that went astray was alarming in that first half.

  21. Great find. Two incidents practically identical and both refs gave a yellow.
  22. Totally agree. No way could it be classed as cheating.
  23. Souness had as much success at Newcastle as just about every other manager they've had since the war.
