  2. Positive discrimination?
  3. "Patrick Tam (27) Scientist, Liverpool fan I supported Liverpool because of the TV programme Bread. Billy Boswell had a poster of the team above his bed. They were a Catholic family, and I'm from a Catholic family, so I thought: 'That'll do for me'." Read it and weep, Ostrich Man . The man is a scientist.

  9. Alternate reality of course has McMahon on his arce in the crowd and that Arsenal dude is haring up the pitch with only Grobbelaar to beat.
  10. It was missed on telly as well, they were still showing the replay. Did "Oh, what's this???" form part of the commentary or am I making it up?
  11. Disco. It's filthy demanding perpetuity for ourselves and our mates at the cosy top table, it's grotesque. Those trophies Liverpool fans lord it over other clubs over, they were won by what was done, not by who we were, surely? The only rights Liverpool had to even be playing for those cups were by qualifying for it through earning points on the pitch or -- 'the easy way' -- by having won the fecker the year before. Very reliable criteria there. I hate this shet. The only possible way it could ever have been a good idea would have been if the top clubs had have broken away in 1975. Happy days for us and, em, Derby; cheerio forever, Man. Utd. Chance missed.
  12. Well he had more ambition, didn't he? Mussolini was happy enough with Abyssinia and getting his famous trains running on time.
  13. I'm sure that there's plenty of Nottingham Forest fans will appreciate that noble aim. Ah well. As regards international soccer, pah!, it's dead and gone. It's with John Motson in the grave.

  15. Events conspired against him to a degree, changing the shape of the hole form square to round on him. But he seems to have had a chance to knock the corners off himself and there's been no progress there in almost 12 uninjured months. I'd be fond of him now, up until recently, but I could never understand how a chap who must be in tears thanking the Lord (or whatever) every waking moment that he can walk, never mind keep playing football, doesn't play with the zeal and willingness to learn that I'd have ("expected of him" is an awful phrase to use, the man shattered his leg and he can do what he pleases, God bless him) imagined he would have on the pitch.
  16. Fecking phenomenal. Golden light at the end of that one. The poor boy must have been terrified.
  17. Ohhh, I can feel that, so I can. They always go on about your first game back after longterm injury being fuelled by adrenaline (cf Xabi @ Juve, etc.), so I'm thinking that even though he hasn't been out that long and was back training quite quickly, he must be ultrafocussed mentally. He's gotten into scoring positions a few times and -- ahem -- not done himself justice, so I'm not going to be surprised when he reaches within himself as the ball drops to him on the edge of the box with this extra mental adrenaline... Eye of Sissoko... give me shot beyond shot... It'll all just click spectacularly. So we'll forgive him his second-half sending-off.
  18. Does he not give them all a daily hug these days to let them know they're loved? Has he learned nothing?
  19. You beauty! That's tremenjous news. What's our record win in the FA Cup?
  20. Not the most fantastic goal ever ever ever, but the first one that always pops into my head when asked is Fowler's first-time shot from the edge of the box in one of the 4-3s, the one where he slides into the goal after it on his nose. Lovely, crisp move, and something about the way he strikes it is just magic.
  21. Mmmm. How heartening is it to think that LFC is a prime mover and shaker in this sorry band? With their honest concerns about their delicate business models, I mean.
