indeed. And then, if he becomes a quality player and wants paying accordingly, ship him out and get someone nowhere near as good

Isn't the commercial stuff down to Billy Hogan?

To suggest that Sterling & Aguero are at the same level would be ludicrous, I agree. They're clearly not. But that's why I was saying Sterling should be getting the kind of level of pay that equates to a quality player with a massive ceiling, but who isn't yet at the 'best in the league' level. Bearing in mind, the league's very top earners are reportedly on circa £300k & £250k, putting into context where Sterling fits in the 'hierarchy' of PL talents, I think £100k isn't in any way unreasonable & a bit more wouldn't be either. I'd put £150k at the top end of what I'd consider him to be worth. Adding to that the fact that he's one of our best players, has enormous potential to get better and how poor a message it sends for the future if we can't keep our own top players, and the collective impact of all of that tells me that I'd go to £150k per week to keep him at the club. The day we become sellers of out best players with any sort of regularity is the day we stop being a club with any real chance of competing at the top level. Can't be allowed to happen. That's my opinion and I've given my reasoning.

I don't actually know who tweeted that. No idea who Andrew is but Musker has a fairly reasonable record for so-called 'ITK' stuff. I'm assuming it was him who tweeted it and Andrew just quoted/retweeted it.

Is it much different from offering a view on someone's transfer value, I'm using the apparent salary levels of other players to gauge it & get an idea of what is the common kind of wage or going rate, for players of a certain standard. Pretty weird that you find it so weird, to be honest,

Do we, as football supporters, not frequently offer a view as to how much player x is worth, how good player y is, and suchlike? Seems a weird thing to question, in all honesty. Common practice among supporters.

Sorry, just to see if ive got this right then... You're saying I can't have an opinion? Yeah, that can happen with a 26 year world class striker, compared to a 20 year old midfielder/winger. And I don't think I was saying Sterling should get the same as Aguero. None of it makes sense, as much as an £80m transfer few doesn't either. But it's the reality of modern football, £150k a week isn't radically far off what a player like Sterling will be deemed to be worth. We may well not pay it. Someone else will. They're also the teams who consistently contest and win titles.
  8. Absolutely cursing the fact that City became shyte this season rather than last...

Sorry, what judgement? An opinion on how much a player might be 'worth' ?
  10. Nothing more specific than 18th and 19th April.
  11. This is mad. If Burnley hold on and we win Monday, there'll be 4 points between us and City.

I'm not far off your position. I think he could justifiably ask for more than £100k and still be being reasonable. £150k is a bit of a stretch but not massively above what I think he'd be worth. £125k is about right. But as I say, I don't think the alleged £150k he's supposedly wanting is THAT far off what would be proportionate for his ability, age, potential and importance to us.

The point for me is that a player of his ilk probably WOULD get close to £130k-£150k per week elsewhere. Which makes his demands, if they're true, more or less the 'going rate'. The best of the best in this league, likes of Aguero, Yaya, Hazard etc are all supposedly on £200k or more. I don't think the idea that Sterling would be worth close to £150k is majorly radical. He's not at the top level yet but he's not miles behind it either. And he's clearly one of our best players. More to the point, quality costs. If we refuse to pay what is essentially the going rate, then we'll never be winning league titles. I'm not saying Sterling can name his price and we just pay it, but if his requirements are close to the going rate (and these are), then refusing to pay the going rate for quality players paints what is, for me, a worrying picture about what our ownership wants to achieve and where we can potentially go as a club.

Indeed, he surely would be. The idea that Aguero 'wouldn't even be on £150k' sounds ludicrous.

Was watching football focus earlier today and they said '18 months' left on his current deal. Contracts usually run til summer so it wouldn't be 18 anyway. But if they're right about his contract being up in summer 2016, that's a worry. Is it 2016 or 2017 that he runs to? Is it? Curious as to how you know this.

He's gonna bugger off, isn't he?
  17. 10/10 but with 2 of them I narrowed it down to two options and then guessed.

@andrew_l337: @Musker_LFC Was told today by someone I trust that Ayre definitely out and his replacement will be a "familiar name" I mentioned about Broughton at the City game. Could all be nonsense or coincidence. Certainly a bit of smoke though.
  19. I'm not overly fussed about going in. Just curious as to who they consider 'acceptable' & how they identify them as fitting that criteria.
  20. How does that work though? Only let people in if they have kids? If two fellas turn up on match day, in no colours & without distinguishable obvious Scouse accents, do they still not let them in? Not being a dick here, genuinely not understanding what criteria they'll be looking for, to gain admission.
  21. Have we won at Swansea since they got back into top flight?
  22. Don't mock those 7 goals he's scored... 5 of them against Young Boys
  23. Lukaku is Everton's highest goalscorer ever in European football. With 7 goals....
  24. How do they enforce that? Do they check match tickets? Or just look out for colours/accents?
  25. This will be great if a couple of our rivals for top 4 have ballsed up during the weekend. If not, there'll be real pressure on us. That said, Mancs play Spurs so one (or both) will drop points. And Southampton go to Chelsea, so theoretically should drop points. Unfortunately Arsenal are at home to WHU. Could've been worse though, at least we won't have a weekend where we have to sit and watch ALL of them win.
