I think we needed to strengthen the squad, as well as getting a world class forward to replace Luis last summer. We basically needed to have something like a £75m net spend, to do that. As well as a wage structure that could secure said forward. Sadly, we didn't seem have either. Having said that, I'm entirely convinced that if (and it's a big if, I know) Sturridge hadn't been injured for basically the whole season, we'd comfortably be in the top 4 now and as likely to finish 2nd as Arsenal.

The only chance we have is if we keep winning and then, the weeks that City go to Spurs, we play before them - so if we can go into that weekend 4 behind at most and then win our game, it closes the gap to 1 point when they walk out at Spurs. That'd put the pressure on and perhaps they'd flounder. Massively unlikely though, I'd say. And even if that all happens, the following week, we've got Chelsea away... If City drop points against Villa, Swansea, QPR, Spurs and Southampton, we won't need to win all of our games

Problem is, they've got consecutive games at home against WHU & Villa, to steady the ship, before their next away. Whereas United have Chelsea & Everton away as their next two. We need a City win here or a draw at the very least.
