  1. The pinnacle of the guy's career is playing for Stoke. We apparently want to get back into the top 4, with aspirations beyond that to win the league. How those two things remotely correlate, I can't fathom.
  2. Judging by some of the "Nzonzi's a good player" sentiments on here, FSG's expectation management exercise is going superbly well.
  3. He's the kind of player we get because the clubs who actually try to win stuff buy the good DMs.
  4. Being linked with Nzonzi now. Jesus Christ.

    Martin Skrtel

Surprise surprise - his agent has come out and said that reports of an agreement are false. "At the moment I can confirm that we are negotiating the matter with LFC, but we have not signed the contract yet."
  6. Yep. Clyne will leave for something between £11m and £14m.
  7. He's lacking in football intelligence (and probably general intelligence too, judging by some of the guff he tweets) but he isn't sh*t, he's about average, standard 6/10 player. He's a much better LB than Lovren is a CB.

He hasn't actually signed the new deal yet, it's just been agreed. Still time for FSG to mess it up.
  9. I never thought Enrique was bad enough to get booted out, always thought he was ok and decent enough to be backup. If we can upgrade on him though, then obviously a no-brainer.

    Raheem Sterling

The rapidness of three bids, all made in June, all points to how desperate City are. I honestly think they'd even go up as high as £55m or maybe even £60m. We should hold out as long as possible. With the 20% that goes to QPR, only more than £50m makes it a terrific deal for us.
  11. I never suggested it was funny. It's painfully close to being accurate. Lovren Mk II. And indeed Clyne, if we end up getting him.

Man City's first team squad contains 3 'home grown' players. They need 8 for the Champions League. They've also just lost Milner, Lampard, Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards & Boyata. They're dying for English players. We should use this massively to our advantage.
  13. We should be winning all 5 of the homes there, which is 15. We really accepting just 4 points from 6 away games which include Stoke (the 6-1 was horrific but they're hardly Barcelona), Everton (who we normally do well against at their place) & Spurs (who we've gone to and tonked for 2 years in a row now)? I don't even think losing to United away is a given either. Not in the same way that losing at Arsenal or Chelsea tends to be. I'd be looking for 21 points.

Fair play. With their original intention to get Sterling & Pogba (best part of £100m worth), I'm inclined to think that maybe they didn't realise the relaxing of FFP doesn't apply to them
  15. Don't worry, we'll sign him next summer for £15m.

We should definitely hold out for £50m here, there's a 20% sell on for QPR so we'd only get £40m anyway. And City are common over-payers, they forked out £42m for Mangala, they're now not getting Pogba so have fortunes burning a hole in their pocket. They also know FFP is being relaxed, are desperate for English players and are desperate to get Sterling ASAP. If they'll pay £40m in mid June, there's no doubt in my mind that they'd pay £50m to get it done.
  17. Maybe we've been bought by some mega rich Arabs and they've summoned the whole squad out to Dubai for a meeting...
  18. Sanchez isn't a striker. Owen did two 19s, two 18s and a 16 in the PL. Benteke has had 3 PL season & done a 19 once, along with a 13 and a 10. This guy needs to consistently get 20 league goals or thereabouts for us. He isn't worth what he'd cost. Why wouldn't Icardi or Martinez come? I think most on your list would come if the offer is right, including Lacazette. Why not Dzeko? One in two for three consecutive PL seasons. I'd prefer him to Benteke, although he's obviously older. In any case, we won't get Lacazette or Dzeko or anyone good, the way FSG do their transfer shopping. That's a fair point about his age but it raises a further question mark about him being worth £30m. At 24, you'd say he isn't the finished article yet & I'm doubtful whether he's at the level required for us to pin our goal scoring hopes on.
  19. I know the stats mate, the fact is he's never scored 20 league goals in one season. For £30m odd, is he the best goalscorer we can get? I don't think so, personally.

Yeah, I guess it's part semantics but my view of a 'British transfer record' is a move where both the buyer and seller are British. In that context, Beardsley was a record transfer fee.

True but the prose in that that jumps from Robson in 1981 to Cole in 1995. No mention of anything between the two. On the actual list, it has Robson at £1.5m in 1981 and the next all British one is Cole to United in 1995 for £7m. We all know that we signed Beardsley in 1987 for £1.8m from Newcastle so either that article on Wiki is selective in what it includes or just plain wrong. If we are to believe the article, then no player went from one British club to another between 81 and 95 for more than £1.5m - which is clearly balls. Shearer in 1992 for £3.3m is the easiest example to disprove that immediately.

Pretty sure that Beardsley at £1.8m was a transfer record at the time.
  23. Benteke has never scored 20 league goals in one season & has managed 30 league games in just 3 seasons of his entire career. Sturridge could very easily get injured at any point & be out for 6 months. Sterling can't finish his dinner & will probably go. Origi isn't even prolific in French football. Fine, you say?
  24. Sorry if this has already been posted but that Mike Jeffries bloke saying on Twitter that the decision has been made and Rodgers will be sacked this summer, possibly within a few days of next weekend. Also says Sterling himself and his agent have personally met with reps from Bayern Munich.
  25. Apparently Lacazette has said he may yet leave Lyon this summer. Price would be around £28m.
