A very interesting article. I have to admit I knew nothing of Kuyt up until we signed him. I saw him in the World Cup and was far from impressed. Always wondered why Rafa signed but this article seems to point as to why: This was probably because Kuyt works harder than does any other footballer. He treated training sessions and matches as mere episodes in his packed working schedule. When not in the gym, or studying future opponents, he paid weekly visits to a mental coach, a layer on of hands and his personal physiotherapist Like the signing of Crouch, it seems Rafa has not gone for the best or most expensive striker available, but the right striker to do a particular job for the team.
