This is the 1986/7 Napoli squad: Goalkeepers[edit]Claudio GarellaRaffaele Di FuscoDefenders[edit]Giuseppe BruscolottiCiro FerraraMoreno Ferrario Alessandro Renica Giuseppe Volpecina Tebaldo Bigliardi Massimo Filardi Antonio Carannante Raimondo Marino Luciano SolaMidfielders[edit] Salvatore Bagni Fernando De Napoli Francesco Romano Costanzo Celestini Ciro Muro Luigi CaffarelliAttackers[edit] Bruno GiordanoDiego Armando Maradona Andrea Carnevale Pietro Puzone They had in Garella a keeper who was nowhere as good as the likes of Tacconi, Galli, Tancredi etc. Ferrara is the only well known defender from the lot in that squad. He however was only 20yrs old at the time. The others were of good standard.but no one was even close to getting into the Italian national squad. In midfield the household names were Bagni, an old school crusher and De Napoli who was a very good midfielder. They had a decent striker in Giordana but nothing wow. Same with Carnevale. Careca joined in the summer of 1987 when they were champions. They were always mid-table (10th, 11th) before Maradona arrived. Never out of the top 3 for 5 seasons from 1986-1990. Twice champions. This at a time when the Serie A was the richest league in the world. Teams like Juventus, AC Milan etc. had better squads. Maradona near single-handedly took Napoli above all these teams.
I actually would have had no issue with Benteke celebrating his goal. His stint with us did not work out but he was professional throughout and would have wanted to stay. The club wanted rid. I thought he showed a lot of class today. Sakho is still a Liverpool player. He is on loan to Crystal Palace mainly due to his lack of professionalism. He came across as a massive dick with that stunt at the touchline.
Interesting line up for sure. Use the youth and speed of Woodburn, Origi and TAA to get about Stoke, whilst having a well stocked defence. Get the skillful ones on later...........oh well, here's hoping.
Not a doctor but from the little I know, not in the case of meniscus I'd say. Confirmed as being a meniscus problem by James Pearce in the Echo. Decision on operation to be taken by Friday.
ACL injuries are usually extremely painful for 1-2 minutes and result in significant swelling. This did not seem to be the case with Mane and seeing that he walked out of Anfield unaided seems to confirm that. Medials is what comes to mind if there is ligament damage there. Could still mean him missing the rest of the season.... Anyway none of the reports have much detail yet, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
