  1. Yup, from that moment where he got up and seemed to hobble around for a while. Feared the worst when he got up because he seemed in some discomfort. I thought it was alright though as in the last minute he chased back to block a Robben challenge as well. The rest will probably do him some good. I'd like to see a midfield of Garcia Didi Alonso Kewell tommorow, Xabi and Didi worked together with some success last year when Stevie was injured.
  2. Every system is only as good as the players that utilise it. It's pointless to man mark everyone if we have poor headers of the ball, likewise if we make mistakes like on sunday and do something rash - the zonal marking could fall apart. The problem with the way we defend though is that it's different and less teams do it. As a result, when something goes wrong people blame the system. If Carra had scored at the other end 10 minutes ago people would be either talking about a great headed goal and/or criticising his marker - not even a whisper would be said about the flaws of man-man marking (which many teams utilise and do it worse than we do zonal) As far as I'm concerned it need no justification from anybody. Rafa used it with great success at Valencia it seems and for the last 8 months or so it's proven to be a success for us and helped us win the European cup as well. It'll be sorted out soon.
  3. I'd rather have someone like Mourinho than say Souness - hiding from the press and wrapped in his own shell of failure yet always making excuses for it. There is real arrogance in Souness, Mourinho is just sometimes cocky and has the ability to back it up. Its not as if Rafa doenst moan about referees or shout at the linesmen during games etc.
  4. That incident where Finnan was letting the ball run out for a throw in but it spun back was madness. And then near the end Alonso running at their defence and the ball was bobbling up all over the place - and that with one of the best technical players in the country.
  5. I wonder if Carragher had got a better connection on the ball at the other end people would be harping on about the man-marking system of Chelsea??
  6. The Valencia team that beat us 1-0 at Anfield a few years ago was one of the dirtiest I've seen for a long time to be honest. Could've strangled Aimar if I'd seen him after the game, never been so frustrated with the cheap fouls, diving, time wasting etc that we blame others of.
  7. I've accused Gerrard of not turning up in big games but feck me, Lampard was the worst player on the pitch yesterday. Did nothing of note till that free kick near the end.
  8. Walked down fulham rd before and after the game in december with my liverpool scarf on and not a whimper. Something must've set it off yesterday. Tell ya what though, after what Reina got sent off for I wish he had just done robben good and proper

    Momo Sissoko

"He runs alot, but we need to make his running more intellegent" Rafa said something like that about Gerrard last year, think the same applies to Momo.
  10. Owen, Crouch, Anelka, Baros
  11. The form of Gerrard and Alonso has also dipped and Garcia has either been out injured or playing with an injury. That's 75% of probably our best midfield. I'm not saying there aren't gaping holes in our play because there are but we're going through a tough patch at the moment, that's all. The world isn't fall around us or anything. We are capable of picking up atleast 7 points in the remaining february league games and if we are in both cups at the end of the month it will have been a success. I keep saying it but we'll finish the season very strongly, of that I'm sure but we just need to squeeze past February without too much damage done.
  12. We only have Arsenal left to play in that bracket and I'd expect us to beat them at home. 2nd place will be decided by who shows the most consistency from now till the end of the season. 1-1 vs Birmingham will hurt us far more than today
  13. So Benitez.

    Reina

To be honest he shouldve t****** him good and proper and made it a worthwhile red
  15. I'm not that dissapointed. I predicted it'd take Rafa atleast 2 seasons to get the squad the way he wants it and we're still on course for that IMO.
  16. I'd prefer it if we learnt how to score first
  17. Guz

    Reina

He got a straight red, the ref pointed at Robben when he issued it
  18. The first may have been 50/50 but he totally missed the ball and went into Senderos' chest. Second one looked worse in the replay but again mis timed his jump and led with his arm.
  19. Dont see anything wrong with what he said there
  20. Or that midget currently at Newcastle
  21. Souness and Sven would be the funniest managerial swap
  22. Bad penalty taker? He'd fit in at Liverpool
  23. Crouch and Garcia (if he's fit enough)
  24. Spurs agreed not to allow him to play today though I think.
  25. Guz

    Morientes

Agreed. Garcia definitley, as Kewell is playing well in midfield so there's no need to shift him about.
