Yeah, it was horrible. And Warnock's comments afterwards were only slightly less disgusting: Like there's some kind of bright side to an injury like that.

Oh, it wasn't the prospect of losing our "best central midfielder" that had me laughing. It was the comment you made in your first post that I've kindly bolded above. When we sold Ian Rush to Juventus I suppose that made us a second rate team too? Or maybe selling McManaman and later Owen to Madrid? I was laughing because that comment is ridiculous.

He's a very good finisher, but he blows hot and cold. We've been there, done that. Besides, that original link has as much basis as a "Why Jessica Alba Is Ugly" article. I don't think Darren Bent is the answer either though. Quite honestly I don't see what's wrong with Bellamy and Kuyt - it'll take someone much more special than Berbatov to replace either of them.

Is it curved? Bloody irritated me when I first came over here and played in the high school team - some of our away games were at schools that played on the American footy fields, so they were slightly curved. It completely f***ed up my passing, and when you cut in from the wing as often as I did it bloody wore me out too.

I feel so lucky to have seen that era - Beardsley, Barnes, Aldridge - we played some exceptionally good stuff. A Spurs game in particular stands out from the ones that I went to - we won 1-0, Barnes scored right in front of me, think I was about 13. Never forget that one.
