Talksport! Moose or whatever he is called Has to be rubbish, when have Talksport ever got anything right?
-
To be fair, our league form was horrendous for the majority of the year... Again I am with you, but each passing day (and batch of spin) has me more concerned! He doesnt want to be in the public eye, weary of burning his bridges with Swansea especially as its his first season in the PL.... Deep breaths...all the papers are pushing the same story, they have been briefed...I know there is limited information about but this whole process...currently looks like a total joke. I cannot believe we are discussing Martinez & Rodgers as being our next manager, what a f***ing shambles. No surprise that Ayre is involved, he was here when he hired the last flavour of the month. Trying to remain calm but all this news is not helping.
-
Who knows, we are speculating its because of Ayre but maybe JWH / Werner arent fans either? Though the fact that Ayre was in place when he was sacked would indicate to me that the two of them arent the best of friends. It is frustrating though, we appear to be either looking to re-hire (Valero), re-jig (Segura & Borell) all the people who Rafa bought into the club...but not the man himself!
-
We agree with you mate, but everyone is saying he hasnt even been contacted about the role, also a number of places have said he has put his name forward but FSG dont want to interview him. Best get on the AVB, Martinez, LVG train!
-
I agree, I have serious doubts about there approach and the candidates they appear to be favouring. I definitely dont think Martinez has done enough to warrant even being considered as our manager, others may disagree but it will be a Hodgsonesque appointment if confirmed. To clarify my post wasnt meant to say, that we shouldnt be speculating, discussing or venting over the info coming out! I dont think I have stopped venting since its clear that FSG (or should that be Ayre) have a "anyone but Rafa" policy.
-
I am not sure they have got anyone left to promote ...with the exception of Clarke, if that was the case it would have happened already. It will be an external candidate, or this process & FSG will look like a complete farce.
-
They wouldnt have approaced Martinez if they didnt think he was "capable" of the job, they are looking for a long term appointment and are hoping the way he plays and the structure there putting in place (seems to be a coach only...) means they can carry him to some degree while he develops his potential. Thats my reading of the situation anyways... I dont agree with it at all, but there is little we can do about it.
-
Agree with this, people are just venting concerns (like me). I am not as angry as I was yesterday - if they are actually looking to appoint LVG as DOF then they just want a "coach" by the looks of things...management team delivers players, Manager (or is Coach more appropriate) takes charge of training!
-
It appears they have all had the same briefing, i agree the Rodgers stuff is weird...maybe thats who FSG really want? But one of the articles suggests he is still interested and would indicate Rodgers is leaking that...doesnt want to say he is interested publically as he will burn bridges at Swansea, hopes FSG will come back more discretely?

Ayres comments re an extra 15000 seats for 300mil make sense, Anfield will be redeveloped I expect.

So much spin about - who knows whats going on atm.
-
I am concerned Me too, this is getting way too Hogsonesque for my liking If true, makes the anyone but Rafa stance even more apparent. I doubt thats true, but the last time we appointed a media friendly manager it worked out well...(I expect its just 2+2=400 as there is no info about atm) Ayre with more power, the guy who sacked Rafa, oversaw the appointment of Hodgson...having more control - wonderful, Parry with worse ties? Yes once again an extensive search results in an internal promotion, the other side, I espect FSG wanted someone they knew and trusted. I am seriously concerned about us as a club and the direction in which we are headings, I am a big Rafa fan and him not being approached is part of that but if the alternatives were viable it would be a different matter. The wrong decision here could set us back years...we are not in a position where we can take significant risks. I really wish we had been agressive in our search, if not Rafa we need someone with real potential, Klopp, RDB and who would excite the fans. I have serious doubts thats going to happen.

Great post Agree

Latest effort from Telegraph: Has us linked to.....wait for it....Klinnsman! I expect its all spin/rubbish especially from Capello who seems to be showing his interest while at the same time reminding Roman he is available. Torygraph

The latest mirror article (i know) talks of Martinez having already met local officials, I would think thats Seguera, Ayre and co? I wonder if Dein and co are also involved, maybe when he meets JWH?
-
I am, they wanted to add me to the shorlongtlist but I declined (won too much playing FM2011) *Apologies in a negative FSG mood atm!
-
So there basically being advised by everyone Rafa thought was incompetent (Ayre & Parry) - obviously Ayre has to be involved, but Parry? Madness if true
-
Just looking at who JWH follows on Twitter - thought it was interesting, a few key examples below: Tony Evans Rory Smith Tony Barrett Tompkins He definitely has an affinity with the Times, wonder what his thoughts are about Evans weekly FSG rants
-
I am sure i read on here that Parry was actually recommending Rafa?
-
This Anyone but Rafa from FSG atm unfortunately
-
Exactly, with Rafa people will remember that he had a bad first season and went onto great things, he will get more time. Re Martinez wIth our home form for the last couple of seasons, another couple of draws and the crowd will turn v quickly.
-
But he has had 10 good games in 60 odd! Surely thats enough, plus he comes across as a nice friendly chap
-
Capello has obviously had a chat: Ian Herbert - Guardian Edit: Doh just saw the link from Carralegend
-
I can see the arguments for and against Rafa coming back, I understand there will be issues and every top class manager has there own way of doing things. But unfortunately we are not in a position where we can pick from Klopp, RDB, Low etc, we have been publically knocked back by a number of candidates and our options are limited. Like you I can see why FSG want to start a fresh, new setup, new structure and there own man...but if there own man isnt good enough how much will it set us back? I am just pissed re the whole anyone but rafa stance currently so apparent from FSG.
